If one thing is a blessing in disguise from our loss it is to hit the weights and get much stronger and back to old school pirate smash mouth football

Isnt this what you said after last year??? :popcorneater:

One thing about it TTP, no matter how much weights the Warriors lift, they won't beat the Pirates for several years to come.....and that will keep them from winning the region. :):):)

first off good 09 season to sp. the doc saw two sp games this year, polk and UC... and sp lost both. PC and UC were a lot more physical than SP. With that said how do you think a change to the wing t will help you next year powerp? Because this year you didnt make it to the state championship running it down other people's throats.

94 Pirate you are wrong. If those boys at Jasper lift alot of weights and we dont, they will be able to knock a hole in our line for their runners to run through and probably beat us. I hope Grider has our boys lifting weights so they will be real big and strong for next year.

Ok Roy, don't get your undies in a wad. Jasper just does not have the players to compete with the Pirates right now.

For all you doubters out there.....the Pirates will be back next year. I have faith in our coaching staff to have our boys ready. If they get back to basics (conditioning, strength training) they will run it down anyone's throat next year and make them like it. This team will still be young but the talent is still there to compete for the region and another state title.

The Pirates will be fine next year. Who knows how far they will go but its definately up to them to get mentally and physically prepared for what lies ahead. The spread offense turned out to be the best option available to us with the skill set of the players we had this year. It just didn't fair well against tough hard nosed teams at times. However, we did have a chance to win each game we lost and that shows the talent we had on this team. Our boys need to hit the weights hard during the offseason. When next falls rolls around, we will be there support our team and I am confident they will not disappoint. 0 and 14 or 14 and 0, they will give their all for the Orange and Black. Go Pirates!!

94,Old Pirate says there has been a huge decline in strength since the 07 team. Now they may be different reasons for this OP jest don't know for sure. It could be the players are not as commited but OP says it's somebody's job to git them commited. Talking to several older players that are now rail birds, they say Coach Beock was a powerful force in the weight room. The SP folkes new Jasper got a feller that believed in weight training and don't anybody think it don't matter.

reaction, OP says the Pirates don't yet have a big RB like Robert or David but the furure appears bright if some will bulk up and grow as exspected. The 08 team was loaded with players who challenged the 07 team and help push them. Don't know for sure but that same commitment has not yet surfaced.

As for the Warriors beating the Pirates??????????????? OP says the ONLY way is for the Pirates to really git out worked in the off season.

Doc, switching back to the wingT will help the pirates in many ways...1 it will tell the linemen they need to hit the weights and get stronger because they will be very important in knocking holes for our runners as ROY says...2 we will finally utilize all our running backs...3 it will not let the opposing defenses to key on one guy....4 it is a more efficent offense inside the ten yard line...and 5 when SP has had real good championship caliber teams they have always had a run it at ya then suprise ya with a pass approach...I think we will see alot of that this year  Hopefully anyways

The weight room needs to be re-visited at SP no doubt. It is unreal that we as a 1-A program have such a facility. The weight room is something we can all be proud of here at our young-men's disposal. That being said David Jones, took avantage of that room. He won the Iron-Man award through this fall of his freshman class at MTSU. Sacrifice's must be made. The challenge has been made for some young Pirates to consider what are their strengths. Work on the weaknesses and good things will happen. We were young at some critical positions in 09. 2010 shows promise. They are all winner's. I'm sure they will be hungry at a chance to continue SP's quest for greatness.GO-Pirates!
