OLD PIRATE

I saw the pirates in action last night against Sequatchie. SP was most definitely Sequatchie County's Ambassador last night. The pirates seemed to look pretty good.I don't know how many times SP actually scored. It was hard to keep count, but they didn't look bad to me. Linemen, Running Backs, Quarterbacks, Linebackers all looked pretty good for SP. Has anyone heard how Marion Jasper has been looking thus far? I have not noticed their usual contingent of proud followers on here much this year?

The final score ended up 7 td's to none I believe...SP played pretty well...still work is needed...a fumble and some mistakes got us in our first couple of drives...I want to see one of the players step up and take over as a leader though...Someone to push your teammates even when you are up 4-5 touchdowns...Never take it easy...Make your opposing team wonder why they are even on the same field with you guys....Have that finishing instinct about ya...Travis threw the ball pretty good last night had some mistakes but will learn, Jake played pretty well as well...It is going to be fun to watch this year...Everyone should come out next Friday and watch :thumb:

Yes, after the first couple of possessions, SP settled down. I noticed Coach Grider got there a few minutes later than every one else, hope all was ok. I liked it that he stayed back those first couple of possessions, then when it got to that breaking point, he stepped up in front of the whole defense and watched with them the play being called in from Coach Wilson. He didn't have to say a word to the defense, just him standing there letting the D know it was time for business, made a change. After that, the D controlled the game, other than 1 good drive late in the scrimmage that Seq. Co. had.

I do want to commend the HB's for Seq. Co. Very quick and read the holes nicely. I liked Seq. Co. offensive scheme, they mixed it up really well. I wasn't too sure on that penalty called on Seq. though for what I think was called as intentional grounding??? from my view #44 was in the area, but it was on the other side of the field. Congrats to the Pirates, and good luck to Seq.

Being an outsider I though Sp played a good ball game last night. I think thats the biggest Sp team I have seen in a long time. Sequatchie started the scrimmage good then fell apart after two TD by the pirates. Seq was inside the 20 twice last night and didnt score very impressive by the SP def. I was also impressed by Seq HBs, some suprising speed from them. Sp off and Def looked good after stalling the first 2 or 3 series then they really got it going. There should be no reason why they wont be in the gold ball game again. It didnt look like it last night but I think Seq can still win 7 or 8 games by there schedule. Coaches should have them ready to play. Good scrimmage from both teams last night and best of luck!

Yes, it does help. how did the scrimmage vs. Trousdale go? is there a thread on it?

Seq won it 4-3 I think, couldnt really keep score from what I heard. Teams would rotate every 10 plays but all 3 teams looked decent. SP is better right now then Trousdale but I think the Pirates reloaded a little better then they did.

After reading the article in the Chattanoooga paper tonight it appears we are ALL chasing Baylor North and their influx on talent and transfers. Grider made no bones about it in the paper. He said we are all chasing Baylor North at this point. One good thing about all this is the fact that Baylor North is a 2A team so regardless of what happens we they will not be in our way of that ultimate goal of another gold ball.

Regardless of whether or not Sissy Mountain is 2a, it is still a district game and has playoff implications for both schools. The last thing a team wants is to wait around for some committee to get them into the playoffs.

I watched the scrimmage friday and SP look pretty good still need to work on some thing but what I think they need to work on the most is there pass defense. Seq is not that good of a passing team and they completed a few passes they shouldnt have. Seq running back is a good hard runner and SP defense did a good job on him and there line but the corners and safety need a little more work. But SP should be a tough team to deal with again this year.

Vic's mother-in-law had passed away. That is why he was a little late. Everyone needs to remember Tracey and the Tucker family right now and keep them in your prayers.

As for the scrimmage, SP at times looked pretty good. And at times they played pretty uninspired. Sequatchie had something to say about how SP played at times though. I think the Indians will give a few teams fits this year. Signal may not walk over them as many feel. They barely got out of Dunlap last year with their scalp. Anyway, there are a few kinks for the Pirates to work out but I think all will be fine. Anyone have any info on the players that got banged up a little?
