Thanks so much! We are overjoyed with his selection. Army is tremendous honor and very tempting, but family is very important to Derek and VMI answers the bill. Sparky Woods and his coaching staff are awesome and won Derek over. Derek will be playing for Matt Campbell who is a former 6 time All-Pro Tackle.

 

He has had the opportunity to spend some time with Justin Smith and he is looking forward to joining forces with him. VMI is still on the hunt in East TN and may secure a couple of more players this year.

 

Always remember that you will always hold a special place in his heart as you and Charlie gave him his first coaching and playing time! What a great job you guys did. See you on the field of honor!

You asked me about the DE from CAK (Yeager) since he and Derek know each other. I saw him this week and told him you were asking about him. Sorry Col., but he's headed to the Citadel.
