Can Pirates rebound and make run at another Gold ball?

First off, I would like to say, rlh, the majority of your posts are courteous and pleasant to read even for opposing teams. I do believe the Comerade Soccer Fan in the SP Mercyruled post needs to stick to soccer and leave this board for grownups.

Secondly, why anybody gets bent at TrainTracks comments needs to read all his posts! The guy loves to see if he can rattle somebody's cage! If he or SlimShady from RC doesn't win the trash talking award it's fixed!

Now for business! Do you guys really think the Pirates are gonna roll up the Jolly Roger and anchor the ship? No way! Maybe they are not in the category of the teams of the past, although powerp seems to have some inside info that they might very well be superior to every in TN Class A, but I guarantee you if there is any pride then the Pirates will right the ship and make a run. Now, hopefully there is a team that I am fond of that will be there with them.

I honestly believe many are beginning to doubt the Pirates and this could and probably will be a very BAD mistake! Good luck to the Pirates and hope to see you late in the playoffs!

Not so fast my friend, I said that no team out of the east would give them a challenge..I think JB or WC would give the pirates a good game..and as for inside info..you could say I have that since I do know Gordonsville and SP coaches...should be a fun ride in the playoffs..lets just hope all teams get healthy and give their best effort in an attempt to win the precious gold football

Old Pirate don't have the inside like PP claims to have but has been supporting the Pirates longer than OP cares to remember. The Pirates are a young team with several players attempting to replace former players that were very good and highly respected players. OP says the youthfulness has shown often with sinceless turnovers and penalties. If the Pirates get focused and continue to work they will be a tough team to beat. Can they be beat....recon that has been answered but some 1A teams will certainly have ther hands full. Blow the wristle and bring on the contenders... :popcorneater:

SP absolutely can make a run at another gold ball. I think they should at least make it to C-ville. Once they get there it will be a very tough game against what I believe will be JBS. I do not believe JBS has quite as good as athletes as SP but this is as close athlete wise they have ever been. The fact that JBS has the experience advantage backed by a solid coaching staff may/may not tip the scale to JBS favor. Either way, this should be an excellent 1A state title game and very fun to watch.....

OK,on 2nd thought I would like to renig just a hair. Gordonsville will be a tough game for SP; the winner of that will make it to C-ville. Unless of course if GV is moved to the west bracket.....

you are sure jb would beat gordonsville.

I belive we have alot to prove here on out and zonepirate I hope your right about that chip. This time I hope we don't let somebody knock it off like Polk did last night. We have got to be going to the final whistle and looking for someone to hit every play. We have so many player's standing around and that's why they got clocked on several occasions last night. We better go back to old school football and worry about making blocks and tackles instead of trying to look pretty with all the nice gloves and towels that some of the players want to wear. Maybe this week Coach Grider might try what his Dad use to do. The bullring. That's all that need's to be said about that and if your an older pirate, you know what I'm talking about.. Goodluck Pirates and get that swagger back that you lost in a bad way last night.

A bullring? Your Joking. I have rode by that practice field alot and all Grider has down their is a sled and it has grass growing up around it and rusty. I garuntee their is not a bull standing in a ring down their. They could not get insurance if that was the case. You think im joking but im not. This is a the biggest bunch of mess I have ever read on here.

I was surprised when I read in the paper this morning that Polk County is 6-2 against South Pittsburg in the series. Not many teams have winning records against SP. Sportsman, I still think those kids played hard last night. Looking pretty? ALOT of teams have towels and gloves. Are you a disgruntled former player or something that had to ride the bench during your career? You seem to have some serious issues with Coach Grider.

Well here is my first coach t reply and though I have read many posts. As a fan that lives near nashville but has seen an awful lot of Pirate football and seen every state team since the eighties(got family in SP) I must say this team seems loaded with potential but often lacks the discipline that makes me believe they put in the work that turns athletes into champs. I sincerely hope they can put it all together and play that hard hitting quick football we associate with the P on the helmet. No offence to Coach G but the way his teams play does not always show that he pushes them hard enough to be champs. Oh well, none the less they are still a contender year in and out in 1a no doubt and we will get to see them after thanksgiving again so he must be doing something right. Ready to ride these Pirates to Cookevegas!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
