Webb could not hack it in DIIAA so they dropped down. No way they are close to being the best team in the state.

Not saying that couldn't hack it, but pretty obvious to everyone that them as well as ECS moved down to win the state in football. If you don't think so, you are being nieve.

Knox Webb couldn't hold a candle to the heavyweights in DII-AA.

Neither Webb nor ECS "moved down" as you suggest. They "chose" not to play up based on their enrollment classification set by the TSSAA. For example Powell and Knox West are not "choosing" to play up with 6A nor should they with their enrollment. If you really want to get it right, get rid of all classifications like it used to be.

SmokeStackI... what part of ECS and Webb playing "in classification" do you not understand? Simply because Ensworth and a couple others in DII-AA decided to play up doesn't mandate that ECS and Webb do the same. Maybe they couldn't hold a candle against DII-AA "heavyweights", maybe they could. We'll never know because they are playing where the TSSAA put them.

I would love to see MBA play St George. Titans vs Vandy.

Not sure why you singled out St. George's, but the Gryphons will give it their best in their division. We'll have our hands full next week with Davidson Academy in the state semi-finals. Good luck to MBA in their division - oh, I guess that'll have to wait until 2011.

    • I have no clue if Derek tried to talk some since into his dad or not about staying here. All he is going to accomplish is going from the oven to the frying pan. If I were the coach all Ale would freze over before I set back and watched one of my good players leave without a fight.
    • If this is true, South Gibson is taking a big chance. Passing on an experienced coach for a guy who has never coached at the high school level is a high risk move, especially in that district and region.
    • Dorian Eskridge was HVA's best back, 2011
    • Jo Byrns was a very solid team last year. Imo, I thought they presented the biggest challenge for us on our path to winning it all last year. I expect them to be in the conversation and one of the final few teams playing in Murfreesboro
    • I'm not sure you understand anything if you think DB's career and AD's career are comparable.  This is a terrible take.   Not to slight AD, He was a good player and he got better as he matured after high school.   But Desean had over 8,000 yards in HS and was a two-time Mr. Football.
