Are you a parent or a player?

Parent, I just remember playing up here at the middle school (junior high) and then going to someone else's city to play high school ball. We were "outsiders' at red bank. Before this school was built up here, all the kids had to pick were they wanted to play. Red Bank, Sequatchie, McCallie, Baylor, Notre Dame, and GPS for the the girls. If your family couldn't afford the privates you went to RB or Seq Cty and most went to RB. Either way you were an outsider looking in unless you were some superstar. I am just really excitied about having a HS program up here, where "our" kids can be proud to play for thier hometown! Just like Whitmire left baylor to play for his hometown.

g morgan started playing football when he moved up here i remember his first day of practice

That is what I thought, the folks on here were talking about how we transfered in players to playball. It sure is cool seeing him become the man he has become. I hope he always considers SM his hometown! I am going to miss him when we need a tough 3 or 4 yards, he always came through for us! GO EAGLES!

That's been mentioned more than once, do you know which school he attended previously?

Indian, why are you so consumed with this? The simple answer to your question is Brainard and he didn't play football. But there is so much more than where he went to school. He is a true success story that got here because a youth pastor took interest in him and helped him land on his feet through the Foster Child Program. He came to the mountain when the school opened and he embraced the opportunity to get a good education and has a solid foundation to become successful despite coming out of an unfortunate situation. I must say this young man is an inspiration and if you ever have the opportunity to talk with him take the time as you will be truly impressed.

I could go on and on, but I think this should be enough info for you.

Sounds like a very good story and very familar. Oh wait I think we have all seen the blind side. All ive got to say is I dont see Signal running the gauntlet this year. Week 0 @Bledsoe will be a HUGE test for yall. Then playing Tyner,Polk, and South Pitt. Then making the trip to Sequatchie Co. in week 10. I see 7-3 maybe and then losing to Fulton, Red Bank, or a team like that early in the playoffs. And to the person who said earlier that Signal would beat Goodpasture is crazy. That team has a line the averages almost 300 pounds. And a very athletic quarterback, which if i remember from that Washington kid from trinity, and robinson from south pitt a year ago, absolutely kills yall

Well that is what we are looking for, If a we come out with a 7-3 I'd be okay with that. (would rather have a 10-0) Heck I'd rather 7-3 than mercy rule everyone. There are a couple on there we are NOT worried at all about. You have not heard ME say that Signal will run the gauntlet, I will tell you this, we will kick a couple in the teeth next year. :thumb::shock::ph34r:

Signal in 2011 maybe the sleeper!

I know I ain't never said we wuz gonna "run the gauntlet" next year, but I do believe we will be very competitive in 4a. I also believe that when next season is over, we will have made a deep run into the playoffs. CookeVegas is not out of the question.

No doubt, we can't maintain our current level of success forever. Lots of people are chompin' at the bit to see Signal falter, but you might have to wait a little while.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
