Lake County beats Union City by 16.

Greenfield beats Trenton by 30.

Union City came out and played a zone and Lake Co was missing early with the exception of Shamon Pearson who kept Lake Co in the game the first half.Lake Co actually trailed by 9 points at one time in the second quarter.Lake Co started hitting some long shots with Brooke Horton and Shamon and took the lead early in the 3rd quarter and never trailed again.Lake Co made a few adjustments it seemed at the half by playing tighter on Fair,Hudson and Reedy and laying off of #1 and #14 I believe is Moore. They looked timid to shoot the ball and Lake co rolled to the win.Union City played at their tempo and in a zone but still couldnt get the win at their place.I think Union city played the only way that they would have a chance of beating Lake Co.I think they'll play the same zone next game and hope Lake Co is missing from outside.Dont think they'll try to play man as their guards cant stay with T.T. and the big girls would be reaching too much. Was surprised after Lake Co got a 6 point lead that Lake Co didnt force Union City to come out of the zone.Would think a good coach would counter.Worked out good this time because Lake Co kept hitting some shots but come tournament time ,if those shots arent falling and the Falcons dont counter, can see a loss coming. Why let a team stay in a zone when they canr stay with you man to man.Anyway.A good win at Union city with Reedy,Fair and Hudson all playing.Union city has a very good team.Just dont think Union city has the shooters or speed to beat Lake Co on most nights.

Bigster, will disagree a little with you about trying to force Uc out of the zone with a 6 point lead. Kind of like i have mentioned to our boy's coach at times when she gets frustrated about how we struggle holding the ball in end of game situations, "it is difficult to turn a thoroughbred into a walking horse!!" As you have said many times we are at our best running the floor and playing uptempo which means we are not great at holding the ball and with a 6 point lead a couple of bad passes and layups equal a tight game once again. Also I do not think that UC was going to come out of the zone no matter what we did.Their coach did not even change up when we got a double digit lead. I kinda felt once we got control of the game they kind of conceded victory. His game plan worked well for a half but the LC coaches did a great job of making adjustments at half on the offensive and defensive end to allow the ladies to pull away and win comfortably.

I understand but that's what I'm taliking about. We have the thourougbreds.Make them comwe out and play man to speed the game up.Not wanting to hold the ball except if they are going to stay in the zone.stay at half court if you have to until they may a move. They arent going to just sit back and let 4 or 5 minutes go by and down 6.Or at least most coaches aren't.When they come out.Attack.Not talking about holding the ball. But I will agree. He seemed intent to just stay put.I'd have let them.

Greenfield lost to South Fulton tonight. The biggest news though, is that our 2nd string point guard went down with a knee injury in the first half. I'm not sure how severe it is, or how long she'll be out. But, she was being carried by her Dad out of the gym tonight.

Also, at the beginning of the 3rd quarter, our first string Point Guard went down to the floor hard...broke her wrist near the thumb on her shooting hand. She's a senior, and she's the best ball handler and 3 pt shooter we've got. She's out for the rest of the year, I'm sure.

The refs let this game play out waaaaay too rough. Girls were being knocked down all night...and then,of course, were losing the basketball. I'll bet you we had 30 turnovers tonight, or more!

Well, the loss of these 2 girls really, really hurts our team.
