Perry County at Wayne County

Okay your right Perry County did blow us out and they might be able to beat us this year. What will PC do in the next few years because Lake County will always be around and will continue to make play offs. I can say that with the upmost of confidence, can you say the same about Perry County? The car thing is getting old there was a lot of good Lake County people that did not have a thing to do with that. I can say that Lake County has won their games with all homegrown players and Perry has not. The next few years, you will be on the basketball boards because there will not be much to talk about on the football boards. So congrats on a great two year run.

Ok there might have been a lot of good lake Co. folks that had nothing to do with the car thing. But there is also a lot of PC folks had nothing to do with 2 kids coming here wanting to play football and we all got called cheaters and got punished. So if we are cheaters you my friend are a vandle along with the rest of LC.

Couple of questions.

#1 How many starters did WC lose last year?

#2 With a totally new and different offense do you really think that this years WC team even comes close to last years team?

Now answer these two questions honestly.

WC lost about 5 starters but not all from the same side of the ball. I believe with the offense that WC runs now that they are a much more balanced team. The O-line has played much greater this year and a lot more physical due to not passing the ball so much. WC D-fense has improved some due to moving some players around to different positions and some players stepping up.

The answer to question #2 is yes. The offense is not geared around the talent of 1 player. Last week about 9 different players carried the ball and none of them had over 7 carries each. Austin has run the QB spot extremely well and very unselfishly. I've seen him run it 15 yards down field then pitch out to Butler instead of keeping it. The O-line has been doing a great job of blocking for all of the backs.

I expect PC to be a challange for them because of their Defense. WC will not be able to line up and run threw them like they have other teams. PC offense will be the best that WC has faced all year and that could be a problem for WC. PC is explosive and can score quick.

#1 They lost 5 starters and #2 WC offense is run alot like it has been in the past so its not all that new. WC has always run some sort of the veer and yes I think this team is totally different from last years and some ways not as good, but in other ways alot better. The coaches have done a good job building this team around its strengths, and the running game has not even been challenged this year.

Both teams have really stepped it up on D this year. From watching us play and seeing WC on tape. I think the key for PC is to strike quick and often on O and getting some 3 and outs and possibly turnovers on D, because if need be I think WC can eat up the clock and still score with the ground game. We see a lower scoring defensive match this time around in my opinion (which isn't worth much). :popcorneater:

Guru, I knew you'd be the one to start this topic. That is, 2 weeks earlier.

As for the game, I really believe that Wayne County will win this one. After seeing them against Union City and Collinwood, Perry County better be ready for this offense. It amazes me because they run it a ton better than I thought they would be able to. In my opinion, they run it even better than the teams before Tyler Rice ran it, which is saying a lot.

But they haven't played a Defense (especially a rushing Defense) like PC has...it'll be a great game

Well let's be honest there wasn't going to be anything going on in the PC vs Lorette thread or the WC vs Richland thread other than jibber jabber between PC and WC anyway. So why not start it early. :)

Let me tell all you fans something..... Whoever is able to run the ball the best will win !!!!

I agree.

I've seen Wayne Co three this year and they can pound the rock. I've not seen Perry Co all this year but after what I was told on how they man handled mTp last Friday; this team could be the real deal.

This should be one heck of a ball game. I may just skip the mTp-Loretto game and be in WC that night.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
