Greenback needs to lose to Harriman

As funny as this sounds, Greenback can help their postseason seed if they lose to Harriman. If they lose to Harriman, that should let Harriman in the playoffs and push South Pitt to Quad 2. That would also give the Cherokees the No. 2 seed behind Coalfield. Right now if they win, South Pitt wins, Coalfield wins, and Cosby beats Unaka then South Pitt is the No. 1 seed in Quad 1 with Coalfield 2, Greenback 3.

So if you're Greenback, would you throw it on purpose if it helps in the long run?

There are 4 teams ahead of Harriman in the standings that Harriman would need to jump to make the playoffs. A win Friday should move them past Copper Basin, McEwen, Clay County, Nashville Christian, South Futlon and the loser of Howllow Rock/Gleason. So Harriman can and probably will make the playoffs with a win.

 

Of the 8 teams above Harriman, only Huntland and Gleason/Bruceton winner will be favored in their games.

 

If Rockwood beats Midway, that will make them #2 in the District. Harriman will have to get in as a wildcard IF by beating GB if they get in. That would hurt GB in the long run.

But Cosby should beat Unaka and that will move Coalfield past Greenback in the tiebreaker scenario thanks to Coalfield having 5 opponents with a .500 record.

 

It they standings thread, I predicted a Coalfield or GB #2 seed.

Harriman would be in as a wildcard and a 6 seed, but Greenback comes out better with a loss. It takes South Pitt out of their quad first and foremost, but it also assures them of a No. 2 seed and a bye.

 

If Greenback beats Harriman, then South Pitt will be in their quad and they will probably be a No. 3 seed without a bye.

 

So it's better to lose this week and get a better seed and overall draw.

No guarantee that South Pitt will be in quadrant 1. They could be in quadrant 1 or 2. ANY coach that tells his kids, "Hey we're going to lose this game on purpose" needs to be fired IMMEDIATELY. I would hope for the kids sake that no coach would stoop to that level.

I said GB would be the District Champion and Rockwood #2 from the District. However, if SP beats GCA, GB will not be a #1 seed in Quad 1. In fact, if SP were to lose and Coalfield win, Coalfield may end up at #1 and GB #2 in the Quad. Point is, winning the District doesn't guarantee you a #1 or even #2 seed.

 

 

Edit: I assure you that we SP folk know about GCA not being eligible for the Playoffs. They are going to try and claim the 2a Gold Ball Friday night by beating the Pirates. No where did I say GCA would make the playoffs much less win the District.

It is quite obvious that no one on here knows the difference between feces and shinola. If greenback wins friday night they will have 9 wins as will coalfield and right now on the TSSAA website Greenback is slightly ahead of coalfield if both win how will that change? and does it really matter when you play SP? You gotta play them to get there. I really don't think they are gonna move to quad 3 or 4. does it make you feel better to get beat in the semis? rather than the quarters? not me where ever you go out you didn't win it!!!!
