I've just heard it all for 35 years and kinda get sick of all the whining. Trousdale, Alcoa, Signal Mountain, Riverdale. Can you honestly tell me they don't recruit? When FC starts dominating you can complain. But these are good kids and don't deserve all this.

There is a big difference in the public/private situation. If a child's parents wants their child to play for Trousdale County then they have to move to that county, or if they don't want to move they can send their child to that school and let them sit out a year.

FCS is good or average at every sport they play and no other school in this area can say that. I'm not saying they recruit but kids are coming in all the time that so happen to be good at sports...just a coincidence huh?

FCS definitely recruits its a known fact but as long as TSSAA says its ok then the rest of us have to accept that fact and just get better. In today's sports world if there is a winning program people are naturally drawn to it to try and better their children's high school career. I don't blame them one bit, and as long as they play by the rules then i see nothing wrong with it. Girls have moved into Jackson County to play basketball for a great coach and program just like other kids across the state and nation have done the same. So if its legal then no reason to talk about it. FCS has a great football program and they are well coached so it will take a huge effort by OS to beat them. My guess is FCS wins by 3 touchdowns and i hope they go on and win the State Championship and represent our region. Good luck to both teams and i hope all the athletes play the game of their lives and come out injury free!

I'm sorry this thread hasn't contained much about what to expect from the boys on the field tonight. Mostly I've read (and posted) stuff about cheating, what coaches said or other opinions about private vs. public. Bottom line, we have children playing a game. But WE are the immature ones, I'm afraid. Our coach has been maligned for what he may have said 4 years ago. The only thing I can say for sure is he loves our kids and will defend them when he believes they are targeted. God bless this country where you and I can say pretty much whatever we want without fear from the police or military. And we can choose where we want our kids to attend school and play ball. After 35 years of defending my school, I only wish you knew FC the way I've known it. It was the best time of my life. The men and women who were there and are there today, love the kids, just Ike your teachers love your kids. The players say and do stupid stuff sometimes because they're kids. Not because of who may have encouraged them to play at one school or another. What's our excuse?

Thank God we all have choices. And for those who can afford property tax AND tuition, it should be their choice withourt having to listen to all the criticism. Many parents work extra jobs or do without other things to send their kids to private school. We are all trying to do the best we can for our children. This bickering back and forth, mostly among parents is unchristian and unhealthy. Is that what we want our kids to learn while they are so young and impressionable? God help us all to cheer for our kids, understand they will make mistakes, that referees aren't really bought and that this is just a game. We love it passionately, but it's a game. It should be teaching our kids how to be men. Because most of them only play it in high school. This should be the best time of their life.

...stumpin for nobama's job in 012..are ya?

    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
