In my mind ,I think OS has a good shot, they don't need to go into the game thinking they are the underdogs. They need to go in with confidence and play their game.I'm smelling an upset. I don't see a loaded 2a team this year, just alot of parity. Rockwood should have won against Boyd,Boyd should have beat FC, Hampton should have beat Oneida. Trousdale beat FC the 1st time, none of these teams have very much room for error. In my opinion,I think 1a is stronger this year.OS just has to understand that this is just another football game and they can't overestimate FC and make them better than what they really are.

The winner of this game will have an equal amount of "parity" coming at them from the west end thia time. Your worries won't end Friday night.

Maybe we shouldn't be playing this round. That doesn't dispel the fact that your team (I take it that your a OS fan) is gonna get absolutely dominated this Friday. Others have said "if we have a passing game then we will win easy." well I'm here to say that we will not have any type of passing game, we're gonna line up in the I formation and run it down your throat. I have no idea if our starting QB is going to play or not, I think he is hurt. The backup pretty much started all year though and he still switched with the other QB anyways. He most likely won't throw the ball, so put everyone in the box, it won't matter. You won't be able to stop FCS, you're not a good team. Play with all the heart you want, it won't matter in the end. Every team we lost to would mercy rule you and I hope we do too.

In regards to the above....let me first say congrats to both teams for making it to the state semi-finals of 2A. Let me also say I am an OS Graduate and fan. I am very proud of the 2011 Bobcats. I can very much appreciate "commander man"'s comments pasted above. We recognize that FCS is going to "do what they do".....that is what football is all about. I love smash mouth football, but SAYING you are going to do it doesn't mean you will. It doesn't matter who you beat or who we lost to up to this point. All that matters is what the scoreboard says at the end of 48 minutes. Commander man seems to come off quite cocky and superior after reading several of his posts and offers no respect to FCS's opponent based on scores of other games.. It seems that according to commander man Oliver Springs should just forfeit and let FCS go play for a gold ball. Well since we are here and since the TSSAA is going to the trouble of printing tickets and charging everybody $8 get in the gate and since the electric bill at D.J. Britain Field has been paid through Nov. 26....I think we will paint the field, open the concession stand and suit up 11 football players who per the TSSAA HAVE EARNED THE RIGHT TO COMPETE IN THE 2A STATE SEMI-FINALS. So line up and try and run it down our throats and if you can, you earn the right to play for a state title and we will congratulate you and your fine team and wish you best of luck. I promise you the purple and gold will not lay down and we love the type of football you say you play...please by all means BRING IT!! BUT IF A MIRACLE HAPPENS.....and we somehow score more points than you. I am sure you will be man enough to step up and admit that you got beat by a better team and offer your congrats!!!! I hope you all have a safe trip and I hope both teams play injury free. I look forward to a very competetive game and would expect good sportsmanship from both schools & fans that is reflective of teams that earned the right to play in this game. GO BOBCATS!!!!

Thank you very much for the encouraging words, sir. This will go right in the middle of our bulletin board in the locker room at OS! For those of our hillbilly players that can't read...I'll gladly read your kind words prior to hitting the field Friday evening. Keep them coming!!!

It's a good thing high school football games are played by high school football players and not by people making comments on a web site. I think the team with the best players, who give the best effort will win. I also don't think anything said here will make any diiference in the outcome of the game. GO GREEN!!!

. . . or best bounce play for a score. You won't have that officiating crew cause they are apparently suspended indefinitely.

Oliver Springs was 0-4 to teams with winning records during the season and 2 of those games was not even close. FCS was 2-3 mercy ruling the 2 teams they played with winning records and got revenge on 1 of those teams in the playoffs. Oliver Springs played decent or bad teams all year long and the 1 good team they played they lost 31-10. FC may have played RBS, PC, Monterey, etc, but look at what they did to those teams. They scored 40 or 50 points every time.

Just because a team has a winning record doesn't mean they are a good team, probably decent at best. Coalfield, Kingston, Sunbright are all decent teams. Look what happened when they got to the playoffs. They lost to either so so teams or got slaughtered by the first good team they met. The only good team on Oliver Springs's schedule that I would say is pretty good is Greenback and they beat Oliver Sprngs 31-10.

I say FCS wins this one 42-14...

I agree just because FCA has a winning record doesn't mean they are a good team!

We have home field advantage and we don't have a 2 1/2 hour drive and all the fan support we need including all surrounding counties.Go BOBCATS! Remember these 2 names Miller and Romero!!!!!!!!

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
