who is the best player in tennessee right now?

Hurd is successful because of his team, and so Elder. Strength of schedules can be argued all day, but if you really want to go ####-for-tat, who has the best offensive line, who has better blocking, etc. So, there are endless variables in this equations. What would happen if each back switched school? How would they fair in each others teams? Blah, blah, blah

The question asked who is the best player. I have given my opinion and why I believe that he is. Notice my pretty lengthy responses. If you believe someone else is better, then hurray for you.

As for second half, third quarter, 4th & goal or whatever other stats youre trying to dissect, Hurd plays on defense when they need him. Guess what, they haven't really needed him. He does enough, so why take a child out of the game that has been doing a great job in a particular position just to put Hurd in on defense. I wouldn't. Also, his numbers that he's amassed so far (that's 1,674 yards - for the people that don't like numbers) were gained from 4.5 games (since he sat out the 2nd half in 3 games).

Glad you are back to stating your opinion, rather than claiming that the STATS tell all. Hurd is definitely one of the best!!

Your lengthy responses were half supporting your guy and half trashing the other guys. Now you say if anybody else is better then hurray for them? I don't think your guy needs that kind of help. You just come across as some kind of idiot. Chill

Idiot?? I am stating facts that you and anyone else can find on the web. Are you serious? I have given props to every single player (other than Hurd) that I believe is worthy of being named the best in Tennessee including Elder and Ramsey. That is my opinion, just as you have your own opinion. I have in no way trashed any child; I have only made comparisons like every one else on this board. If it offends you and you've gotten your poor feelings hurt in some way, leave the d**m thread.

Hurd doesn't need my support or opinion to be considered the best. I can promise you that!

Haven't seen Hurd play live but his videos are great. I have seen Maryville,Sevierville,Farragut, and several other good schools. For college ball Hurd is perfect size that everyone wants. As far as the best player I have seen Devaun Swafford has to be the most difficult to tackle, he can stop on a dime and go the other direction like a cat.

And two opposite types of backs. Elder is more of a juke and make you miss shifty type of back.

Hurd is a juke and make you miss shifty type of back. Plus he runs over 98% of tacklers, that's what separates him from Elder.

But Elder is faster and quicker. Elder runs like an antelope and has a second gear like no other. I will admit Hurd looks pretty dang fast himself on film . Obviously with his length it would be hard to be as quick as Elder. Nobody can catch Elder in Tennessee and that includes this big name college prospects he plays against. Two different types of players but both very very good. I would be willing to bet at whatever colleges they end up at Elder will be a corner because they will say he's too small and Hurd will be a receiver because they will say hes too tall. I will say this though. Elder has suprising power for his size and is great at runs in the middle and Hurd from what Ive seen is more elusive than you would think for someone his size. Tremendous players!

Hurd is listed @ 6'3 210..That's plenty big enough to play RB for a bigtime college. Heck, Tauren Poole for UT barely weighed 200. Plus, you have to think when he hits the weights in a bigtime college team he is gonna gain at least 15 lbs of muscle. 6'3 210 is far from too small, unless they have his size overblown in the football yearbook or something. NVM, i thought you said Hurd was too small, you said too tall, my mistake...I still think he will play RB in college..Their are plenty 6'3 RB's in college.

I have seen Elder play twice, Dodson once, and Hurd twice. No contest, Hurd is the best. If anybody thinks the other 2 are faster they are wrong. If you don't believe me ask the recruiting services, or any college coach. Hurd is 6-2 205 and ran a 4.37 at a combine over the summer. gets most of his yards between the tackles and has breakaway speed. Look at who is recruiting each player, that also tells you something. The other guys are great football players but Hurd Is a once in a lifetime talent.

    • Hey Turtle did you see Stanton on channel 10 last at 11:00? He did a good job selling AE's need for new facilities. Looks like they are gonna get them. Glad for them!
    • I heard they have most of their team coming back. Who is the next coach?  Also, what about Chester County? That one has been open for a while.  Gibson County also???
    • Marion had no answer for groves last year and he’s added a lot of weight since last year already. And the other groves Marion couldn’t block…he’ll be back.
    • Hmmmmm……doe dee doe doe….i drove the lawnmower down to practice today…….hmmmm…… we got some new faces………. One can run faster than my lawnmower in fifth gear…… a few will be disappointed come November that they jumped ship and went down to that sewage facility……. You can bet the lawnmower on that.
    • I don't know what's going on in the town of McMinnville, but I've read this and it's disturbing.  I'm a "player" person, and I want what's best for the player. If a player gets cut off the team because she said the "F word" then good grief. I mean, come on guys. I wish there was a way for the player to transfer to a different program and just play ball. There are a lot of athletes that are stuck because they're in crappy situations regarding their team/coach. This is player just happens to be one them.
