Charlie Cleveland's schedule non district was Maryville, Catholic which struggled in a really tough district, Chatt Central who is weak, and Red Bank who is normally strong. Walker Valley's was Chatt. Central, Hixson weak II, Polk who they lost to, and East Ridge weak II. So you tell me who played the cupcakes more

Good post Voice...this should not be all that complicated when you consider that only a handful of teams are in this bucket to begin with. And if its that complcated after all these years, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to conclude it needs to be changed. As for seeing the topic on this site, the TSSAA has stated it doesn't read the paper or view this site, listen to coaches or parents. For didn't you know, they are already everything they ever ought to be.

What is really so disturbing here however is the lack of candor in what really happened with all this that has so affected so many people. Who sets the brackets and what are the steps to insure accuracy or is the potential adverse effect to some 300+ familes just not that important? Both South and Cleveland deserve a better explanation as to how all this could have come about just as the TSSAA would have demanded the same. This organization does have good people but its arrogance is quite noteworthy.

Attorneys could erode that arrogance a bit.

Hixson was 7-3 not too shabby and Walker Valley didn't play Chatt Central.

Before the season starts every football team in the state knew or should have know what what the format was to make the playoffs. Just like in the NCAA basketball tournament there is or will at times be teams who thought the should make it in get left out for various reasons. Until the format for qualifying for the TSSAA playoffs are changed then we just have to live with it. I do agree the thing that is hard to swallow is not getting it right before releasing the brackets. Oh well we all make mistakes but it is best to move on and learn from them instead of whining about it.

I understand there could be mistakes made. However hard it is to believe in this case.

I also understand that when you are wrong and it effects someone adversely, much less hundreds of people, you man up and Apologize.

I guess they made a another mistake and left that out of their press release.

All Cleveland had to do is beat Rhea.. Yeah you beat WV, but WV beat Rhea Co... If you think Cleveland should be in over WV, then maybe Rhea should be in over Cleveland..

It's not about any 1 game..when it comes to seeding.

And a Cleveland fan made trhe comment that CHS needed to schedule more cupcakes, the problem is you did schedule more cupcakes, that's why you lost the tiebreaker to WV.

I pull for the Bradley Co teams to be succesful, but CHS has no one to blame but themselves, try keeping the penalties in single digits and beat Rhea Co.

No doubt, Cleveland should have taken care of business Friday and this wouldn't have been an issue (or would it? We are dealing with TSSAA here)

With your logic, Charlie, Cleveland beat Ooltewah who beat Walker Valley...so Cleveland should be in.

Just another indicator that the system is filled with flaws and the TSSAA is simply too arrogant to review their own mess since they're the ones who created it. In industry leadership, this is called the "NIH" syndrome. Stands for "not invented here". If we didn't think it up, it can't possibly be better than what we already did. Yes, this sums up TSSAA quite nicely.

Post # 63 by Wes and #70 by HTV sums the whole problem with this flawed playoff system that somehow has got voted in again for 4 more years. Makes you wonder why we elected or appoint the ones running this organization and board.

Also, like to ask why we had the AAA Volleyball Finals on a Football Friday Night-only in the TSSAA I guess, great planning!

polk a cup cake .Why does cleveland not play them.I been told Polk wants to play Cleveland but has been told no.It true if Cleveland could keep the fouls to under a hundred then they could have won I think 3 more games but when you have 185 yards against Bradley and over 100 in other games .i LIKE Coach Crawford and I think he going to make Cleveland a powerful team but he going to have to get the players to play the game . Coach Ryan has told the Mustangs to play and keep your mouth shut and play like you been there or they would be on the sideline or sitting in the stands.I think the tennessee schools need to get together and tell the tssaa to get their crap together. this has been going on for a long time and will be going on till the schools say something.

TSSAA will pay Sullivan South's expenses to Columbia and any game hereafter should they pull the first-round upset. I was at South on Friday and AD Richardson and head coach Haynie were not aware of the by-law situation with 10 and/or 11 games. In fact the quote was "Enka faces a really good team in T.C. Roberson and if they lose that hurts us on the tie-breaker and we would have a tough time getting." There were no motions in place beforehand. AD Richardson told me this afternoon someone not even associated with the school call their attention to the error. With all that said, the simplest solution and would have affected just one more team would be to make South the 8th seed in Quadrant 1 and move Knox Central, the orginal 8 seed in Quadrant 1 into Cleveland's No. 8 spot in Quadrant 2. Central may not geographically next in line to move to Quadrant 2 but it's simpler than blowing up the entire bracket by moving Powell or Knox West.

So your solution is to screw Knox Central who should be the 7 in Quad 1. How is that a better fix for anyone other than Sullivan South?

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
