Sullivan South vs Carter

FHSalumn12  Which is more prominant...your defensive front, or your DB's. I would imagine for a strictly passing team to be shutdown it would mean that the QB didn't have time to accurately place the ball where it needed to be. So is the more dominant reason for the poor passing statistics by Carter a result of one of these issues over the other or a combination?

I would have to say a combination of both. Our d line was in the backfield all game, but at the same time we have two of the best corners in the area if not state. #21 Dominique Williams is as shut down of a corner as you will see at the high school level. But If I had to give an edge I would say our d line is slightly more dominant than our secondary. Not by much though.

2007, 2008, 2013...same MO. As much or more talent than '08. Don't fall into the same trap Coach. Spread it around. Make history.

Hope your and crawdad's Rebels do make history this season.  Good luck . But I did get to see all these Rebel years and they are partially in order.  I wonder if you did that one purpose.. :)

In order: 1. 2007 (semifinals) - because of Mr. Phillips. 2. 2008 (quarterfinals) - most balanced and skill position depth.  Spin Doctor, very good QB and deep at WR.  3. 2009 (semifinals) - Speed and linebackers baby.  4. 2013 - very talented across the board especially skill positions.  Give the ball to #1 more.  That kid is fun to watch - drawers fly everywhere when he has the ball!.

I love Memory Lane.  Like you said, make some history. ;)

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
