Surely Sweetland feels a little bit stiffled under Rankin's run heavy offense. If Alcoa wins the title I would think Sweetland would be open to getting back in control of an offense rather than teaching the qb how to open up for a handoff 50 times a game.

lol , ya you're probably right ! lol . David Sweetland is a great Coach and a great Guy , any program would be lucky to have him .

Sweetland's offenses at Farragut always put up good numbers despite never quite having the qb to run it like Sweetland wanted. Farragut was, however blessed with a stable of good RB's during his tenure. With the exception of a few Maryville and Ooltewah games I never really felt out of it with him calling the plays

Has anybody else noticed this about all the "spread" teams?

It seems like some teams can run it and get their better players the ball in space (usually on the run) where they can make the "splash" plays - like murvil and Oregon. I saw Campbell county play this year and those guys get the players the ball on the run and they are wide open. Others run the spread but simply run screens, draws, and occasionally throw it deep - like my vols and a lot of high school teams I see. It's like a lot of people love the offense but they don't know how to use it to set up easy plays for your players. For example, last week BC was able to successfully move the ball out of the 4-5 wide sets into the 3rd qtr. But after murvil adjusted to the crossing route, there was nothing ran off that play. The teams that run the spread the best seem to always be setting you up for a play later in the game. The worst looking spread teams seem to always be throwing it 20 yards for a 3 yard gain - again like my vols.

Is it my imagination or the red koolaid?

I remember a few years back BC and I  flew in to Farragut for the Murvile game and Sweets had a 17 point lead just before half on the top-ranked Rebels...and kept on throwing the ball.

Browning got picked off for a TD and then Juhlin ran for a TD, Threw one and just for good measure caught a TD pass to lead Murvil to the road win.

UF had all the momentum and Murvil could not stop Purdy...bad decisions let Murvil back in the game.

David Sweetland's next move will not be as an assistant coach. My guess, he is waiting on a Private to call, and they should. His talents are being wasted at Spring Brook Tech.

Maybe. But I know if I was a good coach I would like the challenge of rebuilding a losing program and making it a winner..who knows maybe he has the same mindset.

    • Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.
    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
