Now I'm really having trouble understanding...Alcoa and Maryville had a city vote to increase their respective sales taxes, yet Townsend wishes to do the same and it's wrong? You imply that you won't be allowed to cast a vote on the Blount Co. ballot...do you reside in Blount Co? Look, I'm not trying to be a "smart aleck", I'm just having a hard time grasping how the results of a city ballot affect the eligibility of a citizen to cast a vote in the County of their residence.

Let me try to help.  I live in the city of Maryville which is in Blount County.  Blount County raised my taxes (when I shop in the county) via increased Sales Taxes.  Blount County did not let me vote on it SOOOO, my taxes got raised without me getting to vote on it.  Maryville residents voted to raise sales taxes (which I voted against), but at least I got to vote.  Also, city residents pay Blount County property taxes intended for schools in Blount County....ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS.  Yet, part of the property tax revenue is not split with ALL the public schools.  I hope this helps.
