A/AA State Tournament

CPA vs CAK should be a great game. CAK has great players including Johnny Creel. CPA is 15-16 deep and has the best goalie in the state. Plays for the #1 travel soccer team in the state, played against international teams and has won 5 state championships in travel soccer. CPA also has great speed up top and a solid defense. If CPA loses i believe it will be on a set piece or PK.

An A/AA soccer team that goes 15-16 deep? This is something I'd like to see! :popcorneater: So are you guaranteeing victory for your Lions, Jett?

Depends on the  time of year if they go 15 deep.  Didn't go that deep til districts started.  Think 4 or 5 players were sick most of the season. Pulling for cpa since they are from our district.

Ask Hume Fogg what they thought about the Heritage keeper.  For only having been playing 1.5 years he has done excellent.  No GK in the State would have stopped the first two goals from CPA.

I’m sorry I can’t let that go….If it “refreshing†(i.e., rare) for the Signal Mountain players to experience sportsmanlike behavior after the game, it is probably because it is such common practice for your student fans to harass and mock the opposing players during the game.  After putting up with that crap for a while, most teams are probably not in the mood to show your team a whole lot of sportsmanship.  Unfortunately, soccer is not the only sport where your “spirited†or "enthusiastic" student fans suck sportsmanship out of the game.

As our head  (and she was present) administrator said, "They've already graduated and are practicing for Duke vs Wake or UNC games."  I agree that soccer used to be a genteel game, but the proliferation of European and South/Central American soccer on TV will make it a game where fans call out numbers or names and players will flop at any point!

Bottom line, I was giving credit to CAK because my son thought they played well and were good sports.

Your son made a good observation.  CAK played very well and hard and were a class act throughout the match as well as after.  Same can be said for their support.  Officiating at the match was also excellent.

As for players going on to play at the collegiate level, I don't know about CAK.  As for CPA, we graduated 13 seniors.  None of them will play college soccer and only two of them played any level of travel soccer in high school.  We have 6 underclassmen who play on club teams outside of school at various levels.

2 private schools in the Championship? Wow!!! What a shocker!!!

So for the first time in FOREVER there were 6 public schools and only 2 private schools in the tournament.  Yet still all you do is complain.  You didn't hear private schools saying "Man, 6 spots taken by publics and only 2 for privates!  MAKE A SPLIT!  This is unfair!"

I, for one, wish there was a split so we wouldn't have to listen to the endless whining.

    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching stuff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching stuff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
