Sounds very similar to the letter they wrote for Camion Patrick going to West, of course it ended up not mattering because he didn't get his credit recovery taken care of.  Hopefully the kid gets an opportunity to play, but it really remains in Lenoir Cities AD and the TSSAA hands now.  I hope LC isn't doing this on purpose, because they were the ones responsible for bringing in a specific coach that would bring in these talents, and a lot of us know how that turned out for them.

Agreed. I hope they get it worked out for the kid. Has to be demoralizing not being able to play your SR year, especially when it's really nothing you have done to deserve it. I also hope he can come back because I want Clinton full strength when we tax that booty again this year!!! LOL JK 92!!! Don't challenge me to a fight or I will meet you and bring you some OR gear to wear :)

This is what a coach told me today about the kid.  He said only way he is eligible to play at Clinton is if whoever he lived with and had guardianship of him when he started his an athletic record was to move to Clinton then he is available to play.  Even though he would move back with his mother because she was not the initial guardian during the time he started his athletic record at LCHS then he is declared ineligible.  So maybe that person moves to Clinton but I hear she/he/they do not wish to. Sad when adults do thing for them and not whats best for the kid. Does anyone have any other solutions of where he can play this year?

Shag love your post on Oak Ridge thread. lol. But its sad for the kid. Hopefully someone can help this kid find a place to play. Is he still a UT commit?

The bad part of the situation is if he had more than two practs with CHS he is ineligible to go anywhere else except for a bonifide change of address, then the transferring for athletic purpose bylaw comes into play.More than likely he is not playing his Sr yr.Did LC change the content of their letted to the TSSAA about the discipline transfer. That is why they said he couldnt play didnt say anything about guardianship.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
