District 4AA 2014-15

It'll take a few days to get the football players hoop legs under them.

Our future looks bright, given that our JV team took Webb to the woodshed. Our freshman and sophomore classes are stacked.

And yes, transitioning from football does take some time, and no one is more impatient with that than our players and coaches themselves.

Our freshman team is pretty good as well, they're off to a 5-0 start including two wins against Oak Ridge this year most the freshmen play JV too. Catholic has 8 sophomores on the varsity. With all the young players in 4AA (CAK and Kingston has some talented underclassmen as well) it would appear the future is bright for our district. Edited by QSouth89

I agree! My younger son played against two of the freshmen from Alcoa that played for the TN Travelers last year several times and they were really outstanding players. He played with two CAK players and they were really good too. Anxious to see how they all develop over the next few years.

Our freshman team will begin play in December. Obviously, until now we haven't had enough players to have a JV or freshman team.

I wonder how much longer we'll be in the same district with all this football realignment going on. I hope basketball isn't affected much.

Tornadoes are in the win column with a 64-63 victory over Gatlinburg-Pittman. Somewhat of a controversial finish that had G-P players and coaches screaming at the refs, but we'll take the win. But Alcoa trailed most of the game, and G-P is no slouch. We made some 3-pointers in the first quarter but then didn't make another til the 4th quarter, but they couldn't have come at a better time.

Next up, Monday night against Bearden. That'll be tough.

Typical GP get beat and blame it on refs. Lost to a superior Carter team and complained about 4 players fouling out. GP has a huge inferiority complex. Can't compete with big boys so blame it on refs.

Carter is definitely on a much higher level than G-P right now, and the refs were more than fair to G-P last night too.

Our schedule doesn't get any easier though, and Bearden comes to Alcoa tomorrow night. All I know about them is that they're undefeated and likely near the top of the AAA rankings.

But that's why Joel Kirk schedules these games: it's all about what we learn from them. Nothing else matters except what we do in February (and if we make it far enough, March).

    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching stuff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching stuff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
