Here is another from a 8aa school. Nera D. White (born November 15, 1935) from Macon County Tennessee is a retired American basketball player. She is considered one of the most outstanding female players in history. She was named AAU(pre womens NCAA) All-American for 15 years in a row from 1955 to 1969. She led the Nashville Business College team to ten AAU national championships during that period. White was named the MVP of the AAU National Tournament nine times. White was "widely acknowledged as the greatest woman ever to play the game". Harley Redin (head coach of the Wayland Baptist Flying Queens, the dominant team of the 1950s) called her the "greatest woman basketball player in history". In 1957 she led the US National Team to winning the World Championship. She was named the MVP of the tournament, and voted the Best Woman Player in the World. She was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992 and in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999.White is one of only two players inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame based on AAU accomplishments, the other being Joan Crawford.

May be the best for sure. Certainly the best of her time.

You are probably right. Callie could penetrate off of the dribble and get to the rim with anyone. That's pretty incredible for someone that's no more than 5'3". Nobody really guarded her this year.,.and they played some very good teams. You couldn't press them because she could break it by herself. If they had a lead she would get fouled and hardly ever missed a meaningful free throw. Krantz was much taller. She was great at penetrating and passing out to Watson. Julie Powell was a scoring machine. I didn't see anyone guard her either.

Krantz was 5' 5 at most. My bad she was listed as 5' 7. Edited by oldkodger

    • Yeah, but if he goes to Science Hill they are guaranteed at least a win over Kingsport and that's basically the NET Superbowl
    • I expect Sevier County might be pretty good, perhaps Mo West as well.     But I don't see either of them getting out of round 2.          The rest of the region gets smoked in round 1.            Except for those once-in-a-blue-moon anomaly years the NET big schools are pretty much the same every season.
    • Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold. If you were around at that time and have any pictures of Kyle, please go onto Alexy Winesburgh FB page and post. Thanks, Doug Benton
    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
