So do you give Heritage and LC credit for holding Maryville under 50, too? If you have noticed Maryville hasn't scored more than 45 all year. They blow their opponents out in the first half and just cruise the rest of the way. Tonight was no different, 91. All of those games I mentioned they could've scored 70 if they had of wanted to. Am I right?

SS it appears that GQ has a game plan of getting to 35 (42) points as soon as possible if the game goes the Rebels way. Set the "Mercy Rule" in motion and then allow backups to get some good play time in. This has been a season that the 2nd....3rd teamers are getting a lot of snaps.

You're absolutely correct. There are a lot of things that GQ does better than anyone else, but he is incredible at:

 

1. Getting a 35 point lead before halftime or right afterwards and then calling the dogs off and letting young kids get experience (it seems that every game Maryville has played within the last couple years besides three or four have followed this exact same pattern), as well as...

 

2. Creating scoring drives with 2 minutes or less left in the first half and delivering knockout blows

 

3. Catching everyone off guard with perfectly timed play calls

What do you say Maryville fans? Did GQ have mercy on WB or did WB just play that much better in the 2nd half when they gave up 35 in the first half? Seems odd to me that they would score 35 in the first half and just fall apart the 2nd half and only score 3 points? I mean maybe they went conservative on WB? Just doesn't add up. I'd like to hear a Maryville fans side. Two sides to every story.

Maryville ran their base offense, set the mercy clock up for the start of the second half and went from there. They fumbled twice at the William Blount ten yard line and lost one, recovered the other and missed a field goal.  And I only post this because of the continued delusional rhetoric that 91 keeps spewing out. According to those folks WB's brilliant Coach was trying to lose. Holding starters out, and running on fourth and 9 to keep from scoring. At least he inferred that. WOW. The backups had driven down to the ten once and fumbled, and the backups also drove down and got the late field goal so they did indeed move the ball regardless of 91's jaded take. We drove 60 yards with our fourth quarterback used for the field goal late in the game. 

 

Farragut wins next week. They waxed Heritage and from what I hear WB was very fortunate to squeak by them.

The numbers don't lie... Last week we gave up 63 first half points despite moving the ball somewhat effectively and eating up some clock. We only gave up 35 tonight despite turning the ball over a few times and not being able to get anything going offensively. Maryville had great field position the majority of the first half too... And if we want to talk about back-ups... West's back-ups scored a td on us in the 2nd half last week but we held maryville to only a fieldgoal. You guys are being unreasonable. Give our defense some credit.

 Here are some non-lying numbers: WB had 91 yards of offense. Maryville played 5 QB's and tons of other players.
