In all honesty 91 i think realistically WB can look at 4 wins, but will be competitve in most.I can even see a fifth win if the kids are really buying in.This being the first season with the new HC and with the schedule you have i think that is reasonable.

LA will have some really good talent this year and next. If the new coach is as good as what I am hearing, the cardinals will surprise many folks. I won't predict how many wins (though I did say they would win the new region), but overall they should have better football players on the field than many teams they will play.

He also has compared WB to Smyrna. For those of you that don't know he took charge of a Smyrna team that had gone 3-7 the year before and led them to a 9 win season his first year there. All I have got to say is listen to what the man is saying.

WB is in a tougher District/Region than Smyrna was back then. I don't know the name of it, but I'm sure someone from the NET will give it a catchy name.

This teams ceiling is higher than people think it is. I know... I know... I have said this every year but I have always been thinking about the potential that is there. Unfortunately WB hasn't lived up to their potential lately. But now they have a coach that can help them get there. If you have listened to or read anything Shadowens has said since he has been at WB you'll know that he keeps stressing that WB can win now. He also has compared WB to Smyrna. For those of you that don't know he took charge of a Smyrna team that had gone 3-7 the year before and led them to a 9 win season his first year there. All I have got to say is listen to what the man is saying. I know coaches usually try to drum up positivity but people should take notice of how much he stresses that WB can win this year. I think he really believes what he says and more importantly the team believes they can win. If this team stays healthy they will surprise people this year. Count on it.

Comparing WB to Smyrna is about as apples-and-oranges as you can get. Rutherford County's population is WAY higher than that of Blount County, and he didn't win those state titles until Sonny Gray and Rod Wilks came around.

My point was WB is an underachieving program that has the potential to be a winner. That was also the state Smyrna was in when Shad took over there. I think that's what he meant when he compared the two.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
