Oak Ridge beat Hamilton Heights Navy team not their gold team. Gold team has 7 D-1 recruits and the Navy team is their B Team. Gold team plays Providence Day tomorrow in Charlotte.

CAK plays HH on December 8th. Navy team plays at 4:30 vs CAK JV and Gold team at 7:30 vs Varsity.

Well yeah that would be a tad bit unfair considering they recruit like crazy haha. They will murder CAK. They sometimes play schools like Hargrave Military Academy. They aren't even a part of the TSSAA I don't think?

Catholic defeats Oak Ridge in the championship game of 15th annual Freshman Shoot-Out 67-60. The Irish played without their leading scorer who was sick with the flu. Powell defeated William Blount 79-70 in overtime to finish 3rd, Dobyns-Bennett defeated Heritage 51-48 in the 5th place game and Oakdale defeated West 61-49 for 7th place.

Thanks for the info Q.

Went to the CC vs Jellico game Friday night. CC won the game. Jellico has a decent team with an outstanding pg, Bowlin is his name I think. They also beat Scott high in a close one. Toress had like 28 points. He's a good player. Heard they lost to bearden again though. Bearden will make some noise in 4AAA I think. Solid guards, nice bigs, and as always, well coached.

Ok got the scoop from some CC people about tourney at CC this weekend. All say the Butts kid is the best guard they've seen in a while. They said bearden went 3-0, CC 2-1, Scott 1-2, and Jellico 0-3. But they said Jellico played bearden the best game, losing by 10. Bearden is a good team. The smith kid inside is a workhorse. I heard they only have 2 seniors and they don't start so they will be good for a couple years.

CC played well and needed som games before district play starts this week. Toress and Gillenwater looked good. Toress is getting in bball shape and shouldn't need as many breaks in the next week or two. He had 28 vs Scott. Hit his last 11 fts. The big kid inside is a freshman but he looked so much better than when I saw him vs AC. He'll be a good one in a couple years.

CC plays at Central and Gibbs this week. Might make the Central game.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
