Blue Cross Bowl: Ravenwood vs Maryville

Did it look like Ravenwood's motion man turned upfield early a lot. I thought we might have changed to Canadian rules.

I was going to ask this but you beat me to it . I thought at least 5 times when the motion man swung out he was definitely going forward before the ball was snapped . It was very obvious I thought and was asking everybody around me the same thing about the CFL ? Anybody know for sure ?? I'm assuming you can not do that , right ?

One of the greatest games I ever seen. The Rebels never gave up. Plenty of fight in those Rebels. On offense the man was Joel Hopkins. Hopkins ran like a wild man. He was offensive MVP in my book.

TD Blackman was great on defense but the man of the game was Ritchie Koons. By Ritchie being in the game he clogged up the middle. Wasn't much running up the middle. Ritchie was playing on guts and determination.

I just continue to be amazed with this run Maryville is on. At the end of the 1st quarter I was just hoping to see Maryville keep it close. Most amazing comeback ever. This will be a game talked about 30 years from now.

Ravenwood was by far the best team Maryville played this year. Their skill position talent was second to none. BaylorBigDog and Notre Dame66 hit the nail on the head with their analysis on Ravenwood.

Another thing is my nephew was telling his dad that Coach Hester put in a lot of new plays for the Maryville game. He said Coach Hester has a great offensive mind. I look for Ravenwood to be really good for awhile.

I was a little disappointed that I didn't hear too much out of Stars, at least I couldn't hear him from where I was perched. Usually you can hear him from two blocks away. B)

Heard dat. I hear stars better from my normal seats at 825 Lawrence even though I'm 60 yds farther away than last night. Really enjoyed listening to the crew.

Can someone clear something up for me...

At the beginning of overtime they did the coin toss.  Maryville called the toss and lost.  Ravenwood's player said something about wanting to defend.  The ref then asked Maryville if they wanted to go on offense.  The Maryville player nodded and then the referee turned back to the Ravenwood player and asked them which side they wanted to defend.

Is this right?  Shouldn't the team that wins the toss choose to defend or play offense and then the team that lost the coin toss should choose the side to defend?  I don't think it matters at all, but I still don't know that it was proper.  Thanks in advance.

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
