games like that are awesome to say the least! I am a pirate fan and they have had many memorable great games these last 10 years. My senior year against Springhill and Orlando wade was a showdown and the huge mess that officiating crew made well man just wants to forget lol - But I if I'm honest the game that sticks in my mind that was awesome was the state game between MC and Brentwod academy 1995 I think - the belief was MC wouldn't even be in the game ( kind of like the coalfield vs UC this year) and by heart and pure determination they came out on top. Brentwood actually tried to refuse taking the silver trophy. We stood by their bus and watched as the officials carried it to the bus and practically forced those guys to take the durn trophy. It was hilarious to say the least. Scott Stephens was the QB for MC and he had a stellar game for sure. I enjoy HS football. I would go to games year round if they had them . Some good folks on the MC side that are great friends I will be pulling for those guys! Wanna say good luck MC- ugh Go Warriors! I for one really hope it doesn't rain a drop. I think MC pulls out the W but it could go either way. Great to see it when two great teams strap up and go at it and both are more than capable of pulling off a win! Good luck to all the players! May you guys have an injury free awesome game you remember forever! Peabody has shown on the T they have a great fan base with class!

Good post!!

Brentwood academy game was 92. That definitely one of the top games that. I have witnessed. Several others come to mind but they were nationally ranked and we weren't given a snoballf chance. They raced out to an early 14-0 lead but we fought back. This past Friday was probably a game that was near the top as well.

I'm a little biased (OK I'm a LOT biased)... but I'll put our kicker up against yours any day.

Our kicker is how we were able to contain #17 on returns watch that kid wow 6 ft 5 215 and fast! also our kid has a leg capable of a fifty yarder!!! MCs kicker looks super solid too!

He kicked a big time 40 yarder under extreme pressure Friday. It took real guts on Coach Ross's part to attempt the field goal and not go for it on 4th. Call of the game in my mind.

Wow ric I did not know that sounds super clutch for highschool kicker,at this level it is for sure the little things that make champions!! Edited by peabodypride

That kick was a lot less pressure than the last second kick against Central last year.  He is a lot more ready this year.

This old geezer would feel a little bit more comfortable if we had the secondary from 08 going up against a respectable offense that can slang the ball around the yard. As always, defense is going to win this ballgame. Just hope our fellers can make one or two more plays than Peabody. Keep on a grindin Marion County :roflolk:

Did you ask the band what they thought? LMBO

Bass, the old ball coach and the band feel like Peabody is going to be a tough task. Speed has caused MC trouble over the years, all it takes is one missed tackle and its off to the races. Plus the qb being an athlete, it can really make a difference in a game if he can scramble. Just take a look at how big of a factor Terrell was in the MC vs SP game in 09. This old geezer believes that this Marion County team has something special about it this year. They just might be the F$U of high school football this year.

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
