I'm convinced Coach Wise is the right man, in the right place, at the right time to take Signal Mountain to the next level. What Bill Price has done at Signal over our first six years is nothing less than phenomenal, and he leaves some very big shoes to fill. Coach Wise is early in his career as a head coach, but I have no doubt that he is a rising superstar. We are very fortunate to have Barry Loyal and Troy Boeck on staff, and the trio should be able build on our past successes without missing a beat.

Ty played his high school ball at 6A B.T. Washington HS in Pensacola, winning the 6A Florida State Championship his junior year. He was then a three year starting center and 1st team All-American at the University of Miami. He then had a brief 4 year career in the NFL and briefly worked as a personal trainer for several NFL players. Throughout his career, Coach Wise has excelled in the area of Speed/Strength Conditioning and Sports Nutrition. He brings with him a comprehensive, well-structured program to develop athletes in all sports, male and female, starting at the middle school level.

He entered the high school coaching ranks as an assistant and strength coach at his alma mater, before transferring to 1A Northview HS in Bratt, FL as the offensive coordinator and head strength and conditioning coach. In his four years at Northview, he guided the team from a 2-8 season in 2008 to a 1A Florida State Championship in 2012. For the past two years, he has served as the head football coach and athletic director at Graceville, FL.

He is praised by all who have worked with him for having a keen football mind. He is known for running an attacking style offense that is able to identify, adapt to, and exploit an opponent’s weaknesses. Having played center at the highest level under a number of outstanding coaches and having coached alongside others, he understands not only how to attack defenses, but also how to design defensive schemes that will best neutralize an opponent’s offensive strengths.

Above all of this is his commitment to his players and students. He truly understands his position as a role model and mentor to our young men and women. He is actively involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and community service organizations. Character, discipline, hard work, determination, responsibility, intensity, enthusiasm, integrity, structured, and consummate professional are the terms used to describe him by those who have been associated with him. As a teacher of History, Civics, and Economics, his students universally praise him as a thoughtful and caring educator. Academic achievement, community service, and strong moral character are required of his players.

We welcome Ty, his wife Mary, and their four children (Ty 12, Kendall 9, Grant 7, Madelyn 5) to the Signal Mountain community and the Eagle Family.

Convinced huh?

Yea. I pretty much stand by my comments. But you know small town politics.

Lots of challenges facing a new coach coming into a program. I think he would admit, in hindsight, that a lot of situations could have been dealt with differently. No reason to rehash things on here, though. It is what it is, and we all move on.

I wish Coach Wise all the best in the future, and I still think he has a bright future ahead of him.

I'll keep cutting the grass and cheering for my Eagles redthumb.gif

The best way to describe the Ty Wise era is unlucky. He came in with some high expectations. Last season the team seemed to have a falling out after the opening loss at East Hamilton. It is my understanding that multiple players left the team after that game, thinning out an already small roster. My speculation is that the team and the coach just never came to terms. It is not like Signal was a down program that needed to be rebuilt, instead they were one of the more respected programs in the city.

if your idea of a bright future is leaving a HC position at North Red Bank Mountain to become strength coach at the The Sword of Joshua Full Independent Gospel Pentecostal Assembly just off Charger Drive on the Fronatage Road lets us know how far NRBM has fallen.....no wonder those mamas up at Brantleys Golf and Country Club have decided over brunch to form their own school distrcit

that bein said; if yall can attach and hook that up with your mother school at the bottom of the hill, those women could b on to sumthin

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
