It's just a matter of time till schools like Franklin and Maryville change from the rebels to whatever.  But does it really matter to fans if they change their names?  Will the quality of football be different?  Will fans not show up because they can't yell "go rebels" and waive they stars and bars?

Anserin' yore qwestuns.....

It does matter ... the term Rebels can be applied to many different situations and events. That term in itself should not be "offensive" to anyone . This has all really gotten out of control. Give it a rest aleady. However we could change our name to "raghead or commies"

Your right this stuff is way out of control! How about magic carpets?

Maryville is so Politically Correct that they have the P.A. announcer address all the stadium rules before and during the game that some of the fans stand up and mock the announcer as he recites these idiotic rules. Fact is that they don't want a Rebel flag at the game so they announce no flags on poles. Why don't they just say it and quit beating around the bush. No lazors, no cowbells, no tobacco products and no animals. When in the world did someone ever bring an animal to a ballgame but that's how silly things have gotten at Maryville High.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
