Red Rebels
I think I can speak for most Maryville fans. We don't care for that Notre Dame 89 guy.

cbg
You can take it to the bank that Maryville will not go D2AA. They like most all of the larger public schools in Tennessee want nothing to do with playing in D2AA for both the regular season and playoffs. Let's be honest and tell the truth in that D2AA is considered the 3rd most difficult division in the USA and few people want that type of challenge each week not to mention the travel that must take place. I do not see how any of the Catholic schools would be able to stay in D1. The mission of all diocesan Catholic schools that I have been associated with is and always has been to educate all Catholics regardless of the families ability to pay. Now I will admit that many Catholic schools seem to have forgotten that part of their mission statement and from the outside looking in appear to only want the affluent Catholics or great athletes. eers
I'm not sure who would, but I can tell you that week in and week out Maryville not only competes but wins. They wouldn't go undefeated like they do all the time, but the would win... Regularly. D2 doesn't want them or several others.

Maryville would compete well in D2AA but to say that the D2AA schools would not want to play Maryville is just not true. The top teams in D2AA all seek out the top competition from other states so playing Maryville would just be another tough game. The most difficult things for Maryville would be the travel schedule, the fact that they would have to prepare for all league games (just couldn't roll out the ball), and the injuries that everyone in D2AA must deal with each year. D2AA is truly like playing in the SEC. Maybe Maryville fools me and decides to step outside their comfort zone and join the ranks of D2AA as it would make the league even stronger.
