I agree that the Daily Times is kinda stinking it up in High School football coverage these days. They used to have a full article for all the High Schools in the county and Greenback on Fridays. And on Saturday they would have in-depth stories and pictures from all the games. What happened?

I don't know two big rivalry games in the county tonight but you would never know it.

Congrats to Maryville and best of luck the rest of the season. Very proud of the Tornadoes and how they continued to fight the second half. Maryville has a real good group in their Sophomore class, played a huge roll in the outcome of this game.

Please remember James McKinney "Bubba" in your prayers. Still in a drug induced coma while they are trying to clean up the infection in his blood stream. Very touch and go and critical as of latest update. I am sure he would have been one of the first in line tonight

Alcoa didnt quit and they have a great team. I think the delay played well for them. Good luck from here on out. I will say this once ... the referees where terrible... everyone of them some of the worst that i have seen. They had no control of the game. You suck!

Maybe you should've given them a little GreyRider attitude adjustment! 😂

How can you all complain about our referees?  Just because Barry Mathis was the quarterback when the Red Rebels won one of their first State Championships doesn't mean he would favor MHS over AHS.  Well perhaps I am wrong.  Barry helped recruit some of our better players to the Red Rebel Machine!

You know our motto at Maryville, when in doubt, Barry will help you pull it out!  Love my Red Rebels and love you boyz!

Great comeback from Alcoa. I sincerely hope we do not see another defensive front as physical as theirs the rest of the year. That group can play with anyone. Gutsy drive by my Rebels that resulted in the last field goal. Ate most of the fourth quarter, which was likely as big or bigger than the three points it yielded. Having two programs, fans, stadiums and atmosphere in such close proximity is such a blessing. Felt this would be a struggle and it was. Glad I stayed.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
