Its really just another example of why we need some major changes in classifactions, City Schools.open zoned schools and  private schools who can draw in or reject students needs to be addressed. When you look at the state champs this year, you can just look at the advantages they have over most schools and see why they are the top dog.

Keep lobbying old timer. You keep talking about big city schools, open zoned schools, private schools etc. Let's just give out participation "State Championship" trophies and rings to every school that tee's it up in August. Broken record dude.

Great work Trezevant. You beat a really good powerhouse team, regardless if they are down or not. Good luck the rest of the season.

A city school in middle of Memphis has no business playing these small rural schools. If you are lucky enough to get ahold of them, you;ll see what I'm talking about. Nobody wants a participation  trophy, they only want to play schools who operate the same as themselves. You guys should feel the same way.

I have no idea if Trez.'s enrollment had such a sudden drop and is now back up. I do think they should have 2 year classes instead of four to help keep schools with larger numbers from unintenionally playing down. It helped Signal win a state title when they should have been in a playoff bracket with Alcoa. Eaat Hamilton is another example in this area, and about 10 years ago Walker Valley was really helped, playing in AA with about 1200 students for a couple of years.

City schools have the ability to control their enrollment. I'm not saying Trezavant done that but you have one heck of a drawing pool in a school in their area. I'd say plenty of people are gonna be crying unfair at the end of the season. Trezavant is just playing by the rules the TSSAA allows,The Tssaa just don't see the things they need to do to level the playing field.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
