Keep lobbying old timer. You keep talking about big city schools, open zoned schools, private schools etc. Let's just give out participation "State Championship" trophies and rings to every school that tee's it up in August. Broken record dude.

Great work Trezevant. You beat a really good powerhouse team, regardless if they are down or not. Good luck the rest of the season.

They won't need luck Pride, just don't need any bad luck.

From what I have read they were a 3A school playing up in 4A! Apparently no one wants to deal with CPA & Alcoa! When the new #'s came out they were low enough to be in 2A!

Exactly. Talked to some of the Memphis posters about this. Apparently Trez was 3A enrollment for a while but had chosen to play up in 4A. I was told it was because they had some rivals there and it made scheduling easier for them. This time enrollment dropped just a little for them to be in 2A and that where they chose to stay. No foul play here. Just bad luck for a lot of other 2A schools.

don't get me wrong here, I think maybe aville or whoever in west can play with them on a flawless night. however I don't think the tssaa should allow a school to drop 2 classes, to the lay person it seems fishy. I know they may have really been 3a and played up in 4a, and if so I don't really think schools should have a say in playing up. they cant choose to play down so why allow anyone to play up. put them where they belong and no one will question the big 2 class drops in 1 season. to me if they chose to play up from 3a to 4, then they should at least have to play up from 2a to 3 for one classification cycle. all the best to them and I hope aville plays good enough to get a chance at them in the semis, to be the best you got to beat the best.

So Penalize a team for playing in their correct classification? How would that make since? Playing up is not an advantage because the schools you play against have more students to pull from were playing down would mean your school could pull from more students. I really dont think you thought your post out

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
