so whos collectin gates; helpin with parkin and deep fryin the wennies and bananas at the PUB ballgames

Booger just sayin

When he talks about "helping out" it refers to a paid position of some kind. That includes Sports information directors and Deans of students and assistant athletic directors and assistant coaches.

Keeps kids from having their tuition relieved because their dad/mom "helps out".

There are some schools that have come up with a lot of "helping out" positions lately.

havin a hard time comin up with an outcome for this game.....seen CPA on film and have seen the Twisters up close.....as of today; got this thing sumwhere round 2-0 CPA or 7-0 Alcoee....cant wait to see it

Booger just sayin

Both are great teams, but I think Alcoa is on a different level. Unless there is / are undisclosed injuries that come into play, I see 21-7 Alcoa.

Speaking of injuries, what is the injury situation for both of these teams?

Boog, I think it is more like Secretary, Administrative Assistant, Cafeteria workers, Librarians, Janitors, etc. Lot's of private schools hire parents at lower than market rates and give them a break on tuition. So if a private school doesn't want or can't afford to go D2, those students will have to quit sports or transfer (and maybe sit out a year).

I don't doubt that a lot of those kids have been there. I don't coach anymore so I'm going strictly off of what other coaches/friends have told me. On another forum someone said that kids that went to East Hickman now play for NCS. I'm sure that CPA has a few freshman and sophomores that came from other middle schools. Even if kids that come from other schools to CPA or NCS don't actually start they do help with overall player depth. Which helps with injuries. Things schools like East Hickman have troubles with. CPA has a great coaching staff that could help with any young player. So I see why a kid would want to go there. I've enjoyed watching CPA play during the playoffs. They play hard and don't make many mistakes. I'd like to see #45 have a good game this weekend. Really tough kid! But I still think Alcoa will be too much

CPA and 45# know a two yard gain against that line is a good run. Especially after he met a few of those giants at the Mr Football banquet. CPA had some size last year to do it. This year they are very small. Look for rollouts, screens, with some bombs sprinkled in to try and move the ball.

Alcoa is exactly the kind of team that I thought CPA could have a difficult time lining up against. Alcoa should be favored in this one, but they were last year as well. CPA is either going to need some turnovers to bounce their way or make more than a couple of big plays. They can't give up any TOs or big plays to Alcoa.

All great and accurate points. I think the issue most MidTn people have with CPA or NCS is that they take alot of the good talent from the area and then beat up those teams with their own kids. If those teams were in DII nobody would care. Its tough to build a good support system if the privates take your best players, put them in a great off season program and then destroy you in a region or playoff game.

In the end theres nothing you can do about it but strap up and play ball. I'll be rooting for an Alcoa blowout. I think they have a great football community and anybody that schedules Maryville every year gets my respect. After watching 3 of CPA's playoff games I don't think they win anyway.

I guess in some sense all private students are zoned for somewhere else. But what I find ironic is that when all the privates are forced into D2 and then have the ability to give tuition, you could see even more public student leave for private schools. Edited by coachrus
