Doesn't mean much but Jellico beat Concord Christian 38-0 at the Clinton Jamboree. Jellico's 1's came out with 2 min left in the first quarter with the score 30-0.

I think for the level Jellico is on that 38-0 is a heck of a showing. Look back the past 10 years at how many times they've scored above 30. Unfortunately I'd almost bet you could count it on two hands. I'm glad to see them do well and wish them the best of luck except for that last game when we pay them a visit.

They have a pretty big school, they SHOULD be able to compete!

Their new coach will get em better. They were noticeably more fundamentally sound than in recent years, with around 400 kids they could be a pretty stout bunch if they'll get the support and the right coach. This one is a younger guy and seems to be a high energy type. If he sticks around and gets some backing I think he'll get em clicking soon. He's already getting the numbers up, I hear they're dressing 40+ this year.

Thats good to hear, love seeing these door mats get better. I hate seeing these schools get demolished every week.

That's just nothing short of excellent! I love to see stories like this on team's who have struggled for years, but end up turning the corner! I would love to see them be able to give us in the top 4 a good game!

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
