Is White Co. boys always this good? I thought their girls were the typically the powerhouse in bball

Well, our boys did make the state tourney last year going 30-4. We won the AAA championship and 1998 and 1999(back to back). I believe our girls have made the state 12 times and the boys have made the state 12 times. Not too shabby. :)

No Maryville?

Rebels certainly have a shot but honestly once you get past Oak Ridge in Region 2, it is a total crap shoot who will emerge as the second representative in substate. It could be Maryville, Karns, Powell, Central, Hardin Valley, Farragut, Bearden, Heritage,... it just depends who peaks at right time in region tournament. I think any of the above teams could beat any other on a given night. There may be a couple more teams that you could throw in that mix, too.

I agree. With the possible exception of Lenoir City I think most all of the teams in 4-AAA can beat the other on any given night, including William Blount. A lot of parody in that district.

Another potential sleeper in Region 2 out of District 4-AAA is West. They have victories over Hardin Valley, Bearden, and Central, plus two losses to Maryville by a total of 7 points. Big game next week in 4-AAA will be Bearden vs Farragut which could decide # 2 seed in district tournament and automatic spot in the region tournament.

Absolutely. Haven't seen West play this year, but they always have some good athletes.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
