Magnet schools need to be put in AAA or private. They have all of Nashville to pick their players. No different than the private schools.except they can go free. Hope this has been addressed by the TSSAA when re-classification occurs this fall.

I understand your pain all too well, but this isn't the time or place...East Nashville's kids played in the division that TSSAA placed them in, and won state. Congrat's  to the kids and coaches.

Thanks trader. Just so everyone knows, East Nashville is a true magnet school that is academic based. They operate under the Paideia philosophy and are a lottery school. The administration and coaches have absolutely zero control over who gets in and who does not. There is zero picking players.

Magnet schools don't get to pick their players, it's a random lottery draw for anyone who applies.

That is only partially true. Most are picked by lottery but x amount have to go to minority kids. More to this story than people realize.

I'm going to say this then I'm done. Nobody said a word about MLK last year until they won. Then it was we need to separate the magnet schools. MLK is a top academic school in TN and the US. Nobody said a word about EN this year. In fact most had already crowned elizabethton. If they hadn't crowned elizabethton it was Westview. Now East wins and oh well we need to separate magnets again. EN has had a 100% graduation rate for several years or very close to it. It's the third top magnet school in metro behind HF and MLK. And there is no history with this girls program. It was their first region and state championship. Why not congratulate the girls and coach.

    • Wow, that really stinks. I hate that for you guys.
    • Not sure what you mean? 40 TOTAL? Macon is a good team no doubt, but I believe they've only scored 35 total points against Uppeeman the last two years, and that's over three games.
    • This scenario resonates with the dynamics observed in my hometown of Hartsville. The undue influence of politics on high school sports remains a pervasive issue, detracting from the integrity of athletic programs.  The proliferation of individuals driven by a thirst for power inevitably precipitates the downfall of any program. It appears that we are currently grappling with similar challenges akin to those faced by Greenback. Please accept my condolences for your ordeal.
    • From what we are hearing on the reservation we will be lucky to beat sunbright. And trust me I am not throwing stones at them because they play their hearts out. It’s a tuff game every year, just like Oakdale but when you have small numbers that’s what you get. And then you add in that you loose two top linemen and the starting qb!!!! Along with a running back!  We are in deep trouble.
    • The coach's departure ensued due to the absence of backing from the board members, compounded by the unsettling revelation that one board member persistently surveilled him, verging on conduct akin to harassment. Furthermore, it appears that meeting the expectations of this community remains an unattainable feat, as even a hypothetical scenario of clinching five consecutive state championships would likely not suffice to quell discontent. The current situation is fraught with complications, primarily stemming from applicants for the position who have cultivated relationships with board members known to have opposed the former coach.
