cbg
All this talk about recruiting in MNPS which has been going on since the early 70's. I have said many times before and will continue to say the TSSAA transfer rules are antiquated and need to be updated. Why not just have a rule that says every student athlete is allowed one (1) free transfer without any questions being ask. A second transfer must be accompanied by a legal change of address. This one rule change would eliminate 95% of the problems the TSSAA has to address.

My true feelings are if they are in a gym, on an athletic field, in the band room or practicing for a play they are staying out of trouble and no one is getting pregnant. MNPS has always allowed kids to attend a school out of zone but that is a MNPS decision. There is a reason that even with high tuition cost private schools thrive in Davidson County and it's due to the idiots on Bransford Avenue and the MNPS Board of Directors. My issue is with the outdated TSSAA rules regarding transferring to another school once a student athlete begins the 9th grade. So much has changed since most of the rules were established in the 1960's.

Those are they same coaches that go to middle school games of their non feeder schools. I agree about the students wanting to go the winning schools, has a lot to do with today’s culture, but it is also the parents. Kids are looking for exposure and some of them think they have to go to those schools to be seen. Ask I said before what's wrong with a coach going to a middle school game that not a feeder school? Alot of the asst coaches nowadays are 25-45. Alot of them grew up in Nashville and have family, friends and sometimes there own kids who play for other middle schools. I see it all the time on fb. When parents tag about 50 people "Hey yall little reggie plays at such and such and I would love yall to come out and support" ....

I think hes talking about the middle school kids and PARENTS only choosing about 5 schools in metro. Especially when they cant get into Ba and Ensworth. workinprogress
I think a lot of the recruiting talk and actions is more about the intentions involved. I see nothing wrong with a coach going to a middle school game dressed in their school colors or whatever, standing along the fence and watching the game. If a parent approaches the coach and talks about his school nothing wrong there either. If a kid wants to go to a winning program then that kid is like the majority of kids now days. Most don't want a real challenge or have to work for anything. Under the same circumstances if the coach goes out of his way to talk to the Star player or his parents and makes first contact that is a violation and I do think that is wrong. I also think that happens every Thursday afternoon in metro. To me I could care less what a kid does. He is a kid. I could care less what a parent does. He or she is just doing what he or she feels is best for the kid. The only thing I don't like is coaches doing something illegal. I think some actually believe it's okay because others do it, get away with it, win games with kids not in their zone, and then applauded for it and called a great coach. workinprogress
That's three pretty good games. I'm not sure about PC and MBA though. For whatever reason MBA usually handles then fairly easily. Hopefully the firebird get it going this week.
