They might be playing for it all, but Greenback isn't the second best team. The west has 5 teams better than us boys in the east.

I don't care what anybody says it is week 3 and until East and West play in the championship game there is no real way to truly know if there are 5 better teams in the West. Just how close does an East team have to get in the championship for anyone to say they might be #2 or 3, etc. Heaven forbid the East wins then what, the West team just played bad. Where is the East pride? I bet Region 2 teams are all playing for a chance to go prove what they got and I bet if you ask any of them if they make it out of the East and represent in Cookeville they are going to win not just concede. Here's to the East! Bring that Gold ball back to the hills!

I pull for the East regardless if it's GB, CF, or SP. Shout out to the smaller schools!!

Just a few years ago the west side of the state was saying the same about the east winning every year. lol I say we ride this west wave till it crashes!!!!

I agree, nobody is bashing the east, the west is just been loaded with good teams the past few years. I remember all to well when it was just the opposite. It will eventually shift back to the east, talent comes and goes, especially in 1a.

I don't care where y'all put us as long as we are playing in the last game of the season. Number 1 or 10 it doesn't matter. For two weeks in a row we have had 2 different backs with well over 200 yards. Friday night was a mess and Coach Bowling simplified the offense to a simple fullback dive and we wore that defense down. So I just want to get to Cookeville and hold on to the ball for about 43 of the 48 minutes of play. 

 

Completely agree with Swo. I'd rather not even be ranked & have something to prove week in & week out. Our players have to stay humble & can't get cocky because cockiness will keep you out of  Cookeville. Rang has got to get control of the penalties & those more concerned about me rather than the team before we get to the playoffs or it will cost us in the big games. Go Lions!

      RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
