maj
Suspend all programs!! We generally have a lot of common ground with GB football but we're pretty far off on this one. Don't see how you can suspend basketball and other sports over football. I doubt they will be much better in B-ball than they were in football so a post season ban is likely a moot point but still, I wouldn't punish other teams because of the football team. I wouldn't even punish the football team. They had enough. The problem is the T$$AA not Unaka. They ( Unaka ) are not, never were and probably never will be a playoff team. I heard some other sorry team had the option to go in Unaka's place and they wisely turned it down. What exactly is accomplished by having a small school with a program on the barest of life support spend money they don't have for travel just to waxed by GB ? I said it on here before, Unaka did you a favor. The outcome was the same, no chance of injury or suspension, an extra week to heal and or practice. If you are angry , take it up with TSSAA , they are the morons who set up a 1 and 9 team for the playoffs. There must be some other 1a team who is at least .500 from another region who would have welcomed the chance to line up against GB but TSSAA would have had to think a little out of the box and get off their ####es to make it work. This didn't just happen out of the blue, Unaka was circling the drain all year and rumors of them not showing were strong a couple of weeks before the game was scheduled. this is 100% on TSSAA- Unaka doesn't need to have their noses rubbed in it. I agree with 95% of this...But there are rules and all should follow them regardless. You said it as creeker did, bball won't be much better. So where is the punishment???TSSAA is the problem but you let this go on then more and more push the limits just to not have to spend money.OK then withdraw yourself from playoff contention before the season. They knew they were doing this long before our game. You are right with then other point, why not let a Midway or someone else take their place.I agree. It has to stop somewhere.I do stand by my thoughts they broke rules so the need some type of punishment that will sting! We have been that beat down team before but we took it on the chin! Its football we would have made it interesting for them. You make a good argument just as creeker did,and I always respect your posts they are always well thought out!Hope the boys are doing well! The appeal is this Friday I believe. I personally suspect the TSSAA will uphold their ruling. Which I still disagree with, but that's what their rules said the punishment is so it is what it is. Just wait and see at this point. I still believe if anyone was going to be punished then it should of been football and while I hate to say that because IF(and that is indeed a big if) we continue the football program punishing them would set it even further back. I was wrong the appeal is tomorrow actually. And I know you have nothing against them OnB. I apologize for jumping on you on the other thread. I had read so much junk on Facebook and Twitter of people bad mouthing kids they knew nothing about and I took my frustration out on you. And I see your point on the whole thing and admit I'm looking at it through maroon colored glasses. But also looking at it as an educator I've felt from the beginning that this was a situation where adults failed the kids. Their administration failed them. The TSSAAs system failed them as well. And while I don't agree with them for quitting I can't help but feel like the ones who are more at fault are the ones who receive no punishment at all. Very Well said!! A bunch of so called "grown ups" at TSSAA should be absolutely ashamed that they have cultivated the system that is in place. EastTennesseeExpert
Was really surprised Greenback only won this game 1-0. Was Unaka really that stout?
OleBlue
Even as recent as the 90s, it was common for 7-3 teams to miss the playoffs. When you won a title in the 90s and before, you really accomplished something. (OnB is smiling so big right now). They need to let the 1st and 2nd place teams in the playoffs, And the rest could have bowl games and split the gate, That would be to easy,

The defensive coordinator is a genius to keep the score that low. That was the best performance by the D all year.

creekerballer
TSSAA overturns decision on Unaka basketball postseason ban. I'm shocked too be honest thought for sure they would uphold it. Edited November 18, 2016 by creekerballer
