What kind of mess is this? This Quarles man is the best coach in the state. He is always at the top of Murphys pole in the coaching records. You think im joking but im not.

Who ever gets the job has to remember their going to be the one the biggest pressure cookers of a lifetime like the ones that followed John Wooden, Bear Bryant, Pat Summit, Ted Wilson and Emory Hale.

Obviously you don't know many people from East Tennessee if you still have those beliefs.     Time to move on.  The rest of us have.

Yep.  I think the names Hunt, Rang, Rosser will be mentioned by a lot of folks on this one.   

Hunt maybe .. dont see Rang or Rosser ..... Rang ( right or wrong ..baggage) and Rosser ( Rebels and rebel flag ??) Naw .... maybe Cane Ballard at Greeneville is a candidate ... and some past Maryville assistants that are coaching still ... will see what kind response from Middle TN

Seriously .. what a great person and Coach Quarles has been ... he will be missed and will be hard to follow but was impressed with his wanting to still impact young mens lives for this long a time.. guess he felt led to move forward and felt he had accomplished as much as he wanted at Maryville ... could see him at Furman for a couple years and then HC or a OC at a bigtime school .... !!!!! We can only hope its at the University of Tennessee ....

Rang has nothing hanging over his head outside of Knox County.  Nothing.  His personnel jacket is fine.  

 

Rosser is a darned good football coach, and a good person.  The Maryville folks I know couldn't care less what color skin a coach has.  Time to get past that one.

HTV ..I agree ..Rang did nothing wrong really ... just bad circumstance for sure ... but does have that over his head .. Blount Co probably will not even ask about it if they interview ... Rosser is a great coach and great guy ..I agree ..would welcome him anywhere for sure .. just the idea ot the Rebels and the Flag might either make one or the other uncomfortable ...

      RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
