Region 7A (Toughest Region in State?)

#12 is a Senior (Bryant). She's a great kid and a great competitor.

I don't usually make a showing in this sport they refer to as basketball, but c'mon Lady Lions....it's Huntingdon and they need a beat down on the hardwood.

You guys just don't know what you're missing! Dresden has been hovering around the "elite" level for a while...maybe a little more fan support would give 'em that nudge over the top. Must already be doing something right to maintain a high level in dist. 14A...bottom to top, probably as tough as 1A gets year after year.

I think #21is Millie Bryand and is a senior. #12 comes in off the bench to bother the other teams best Guard Not sure how old she is. She is a solid defender and does whatever it takes to get it done

Reaper...stick to football. But you are correct about the Bryant girl, she's a competitor and a good player. I've never seen anything less than 100% effort from her.

What region has the most state championships? Region 4 has a few

Reguon 7 is the toughest region this year is what he is saying. In the last few years GC has two state titles, 1 Runner Up. UC has 1 state title and 1 runner up. Peabody won 2 and a runner up in the early 2000's. Middleton won it 2 years ago. West TN is very strong in girls and boys basketball. I know Jackson County, Pickett County and Clarkrange have great history as well.

Pretty sure #21 is Bryant and yes she is a senior. #12 I was told last night is the Trevathan girl and she is a freshman. She is quite the baller and will only get better. Couple of the younger girls play AAU travel ball throughout the summer.

Is Reaper a football coach? I read his posts in the fall.....we don't need that drama on a girl's basketball forum...lol

Reaper if you read this....I do like it in the football season though. You're entertaining.

Somebody has been hitting the hateraid again. No matter who wins this weekend I'll be pulling for region 7A/ West TN all the way. I'll even be a Huntingdon fan for a shot period.

Team for team it is the toughest most balanced region. Are they as good as South Green, Clarkrange, and Pickett County? Maybe not. But GC, Peabody, Greenfield, UC, Dresden, Gleason and Huntingdon is the toughest region in the state.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
