You can pencil in Gibson County playing Saturday.  Looks like the same draw as last year for Greenfield but you got to beat everybody to win the Gold Ball. Good luck to everybody, everybody has got a fighting chance once you make it this far. UCSportsfan will be tickled at the draw now that Clark Range gets a chance at Greenfield right out of the gate.

I hope you are correct! All the teams that are there are pretty darn good, but that is a brutal side of the equation. I was hoping we didn't get Clarkrange in the first round, but you're right....if you're going to win it, you have to play whoever you draw and win. Hopefully, Greenfield and GC will be playing Round 3 next Saturday at 6PM. We'll try to take care of our side as best we can. Good luck to the Jackets as well.

Gibson should be favored, but I definitely wouldn't say pencil them in.  Summertown is capable of beating any team in the tournament.

I'm glad GC got the draw they did. The other side of the bracket has 3 power teams in it for sure. At this stage in the season, sometimes you need a little luck too.

I think GC and Summertown got a better draw than Greenfield, Clarkrange and Loretta, but nothing is automatic in the Boro. I thought in 2016 we had a tough bracket playing Van Buren County, who knocked off Jackson County in sub-state, then number 1 Middleton and then South Green. Summertown is a good team that can win it all as well. They have been up there three years in a row and are very experienced with the Boro. We will have all we can handle with these guys right out of the gate.

I wouldn't either. GC is not saying this. Summertown is very experienced and has a chance to win it all as well. There is not a dominant team IMO in Single A.

The glass house very intimidating if not been there Summertown has

No doubt it will be a tough game for GC. I thought Summertown dodged a major bullett against Huntingdon like we did against Peabody in the semis of the Region. Looks like this thing is wide open, IMO. I don't see a clear advantage for anyone in any of these games actually.

The top half of the bracket has the best 3 teams in it. State Championship will be played in that bracket. No way Midway/Eagleville should be in the semis but one of them will. It will be a nice banner to hang in the rafters and in 10 years no on will be the wiser. The winner of the GC and Summertown game will get a bye into the finals which might just help them. It will be a war in the top side. Loretto at least got a cupcake to start with. If Loretto, Greenfield or Clarkrange wins it then you can say without a doubt they were the best team.

I have said all along Summertown is one of the top 6 teams in the state but Gibson County is top 3 and they have already beat Summertown. It’s just my opinion, I still can’t believe Clay County got put out. It’s going to be a good tournament. But 3 of the top 4 teams are  in one bracket. But that’s the way it falls sometimes.

I will agree with you in the fact that you had the toughest draw last year and this year a tough one as well. Clarkrange also got a tough draw. I don't imagine they are doing cartwheels and happy about playing you guys either.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
