Going to be hard to beat Sp. You guys are 3 Tds better right now.

Coach, you know better than this.. SP has a good team, but so does Whitwell. The biggest difference between them this season is Whitwell is a senior loaded team and SP isn’t. Whitwell also has 3-4 of the best players in the valley in their backfield.

I don’t know the names of all the kids but the ones that I remember from last season were several running backs, a great tight end, some good linemen and two good linebackers. Number 31,3 and you’re QB are the first ones I can think of. Doesn’t your LB also play in the backfield?

No sir he will mostly play TE if I had to guess, (Unless there will be like a heavy package)  only RBs we have are 3, 21, and 9. And Petty can play it to. They had 31 at QB some of the York and that’s when it started to get real bad for them. So we will just have to see how that goes

Your QB is a great runner as well as 31. I don’t know anything about 21 and 9 so you have even more great players than I originally thought.

31 is just smarter with the ball imo and I didn’t say they was as good as 3 at RB lol 9 was a freshman so he played in garbage time but could be a good back soon, 21 is the little running back we had last year plays db some for us to, good role player for sure

I honestly think this years SP team will surprise some people. It’s a hard hitting, tough grind it out team. They will grind on an opposing team and wear them out.

Still a lot of ball to be played before we talk about Whitwell vs South Pittsburg. The regular season game will tell us all a lot about both teams.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
