This one will be closer than most expect. Will be similar to last year’s game but with GB being more one-dimensional. Seen where people are expecting us to “repeat” but that won’t be the case if we continue to play like we are. On the defensive side.... just let me say this, we are way, way, way behind. It’ll get better but offense better put up some points..... and does anyone know how to get a team to have the will to make the pads pop? Soft.

There is certainly room for improvement but here are a couple videos of some nice hits by our defense.  In the first one you can hear the pads pop in the stands and on this video if you turn up the volume.

The second video I just barely got the hit on the QB in but he hit the ground pretty hard.  #55 was all over the place in the jamboree game and led the team in tackles from DL position.

If I’m not mistaken Cherokee 23 said that #55 was one of the kids that would hit and he had a good game. The linebackers and the DB’s need to get better (and they will) especially in coverage.

If my post about GB defense playing soft in the Jamboree offended anybody in any way, I am sorry. Didn’t know we couldn’t put our opinions on here.

You didn't offend me at all, in fact I agree with you.  Compared to the first scrimmage at Whitwell I think they have improved considerably.  All the linebackers are new save #3 and two of them have never played linebacker before at all.  So we will continue to see them get better over the next few weeks.

Didn't mean to come off  as offended just wanted to show a couple videos of some nice plays to show you there is improvement.  I could show a few more good examples from the jamboree and also some that show breakdown in coverage, but who would want to see that. :D

I understand and liked the videos but I was apologizing to other “people” that seemed to have took it the wrong way. I was stating what I thought needed improved on and someone took what I said to another social media platform for everyone else to see as if I was bashing the team.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • “facts” or better yet ‘opinions’ had been up for weeks/months. that’s not why the thread was deleted. get over yourself.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say the have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
