23-7 and Upperman dominated the line of scrimmage. UHS is a little low on numbers from previous years, but very big up front and a hard nose running back. Their defense will flat out hit you. Great win verse a 6a team from a powerhouse 6a district.

Thanks UCman

Cookeville is a little down but UHS played great and is very well coached.

I watched Sequatchie play South Pitt tonight and final was 19-0 Pitt! Sequatxhie has a big running back that hard to bring down but Pitt stopped them pretty well all night! Caine is a good coach and I would not expect any less at Upperman! What offense did Upperman come out in???

Upperman played about 20 percent in the traditional UHS spread with 4 wr, and 40 percent in a power formation with an extra OL in and a fb. The other 40 percent they played sorta a spread but with only 3 wr and a big h-back in the backfield. Rb ran for 164, team over 200 rushing.  Probably had about 150 passing added by a 65 yard toss and run completion. Pretty balanced but a Lil more run leaning, but a good mix.

Fill us in man

After watching Upperman for a few years now, they've had some good offenses in the past, but the thing that stood out was that this may be their best tackling team I've seen.  They were in good position and were able to finish with good solid tackles.  They let the quick back from Cookeville get loose once.  He didn't score but it was the big play in their scoring drive.  Other than that, UHS limited the big plays CHS had in past games, which was key.  The offense was efficient (don't think they had any turnovers) and was balanced and able to sustain drives.  And, as others have said, Caine is a good coach.

Like I had mentioned before , experience. Uhs dominated upfront, Rb for uhs is insane. New coach had them ready to go from the whistle. He adopted a great group of athletes from Herron and put his touch on them. Cookeville has only a few returners however they still got a ton of athletes. Experience under the lights prevailed.

Former powerhouse district

That district this year appears to be Oakland and Blackman. And I don't think Blackman is gonna be as good as they were last year.

Cookeville lost darn near their entire starting lineup from last year and lost 23-7 to 3A Upperman last night.

Riverdale only returned 6 starters and lost to East Nashville last night a team they beat by 35 last year.

Coffee County didn't have anything last year other than Alontae Taylor and he graduated and went to UT.

Siegel had their best player transfer to Oakland. Last year they beat Stewarts Creek 43-2 and this year they lost to Stewarts Creek 28-0.

Cookeville is down I get that, but they have 2400 students. Dressed what looked like 100 kids. Probably had around 20 seniors. No way they should loose to UHS.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
