Oakdale football shuts down

Oakdale doesn't have enough healthy players so they're forfeiting the final three games (Oliver Springs, Greenback, Harriman) on their schedule. Eagles dressed 14 last Friday

Same here. Its nobody's fault, just not enough athletes in the school. High school enrollment is like 140 students. Happens in small schools

Said Oakdale has to contact each school to settle gate and concessions loss. Oakdale didn't have enough players and they talked to the TSSAA.Unaka just didn't want to play

I'm surprised Red Boiling Springs still has a football program... heard they didn't have enough kids to field a JR High team this year so I would say its coming soon for RBS as well

Most schools do not truly understand how difficult it is to barely have enough players to field a team. I hate it for those that want to play. I know it is not fair to those on schedule that now have lost a game but in all fairness at least those schools still have a team. I can guarantee there are players at Oakdale that feel worse than any of the players on the teams they have to forfeit to. I have played (many years ago) on teams with less than 20 dressed. It’s a tough task and we lost a bunch of games but pulled a few upsets also.  I had the time of my life and enjoyed it. If I could go back in time....I would have still played with those other 15 or so guys I still consider good friends. We battled together and have a bond amongst us. So before any stones are cast at Oakdale...think about this.....how would you and your son feel if he played for Oakdale. I can only wish them the best. To those senior players...cherish and hold onto the memories.
