TSSAA MID CYCLE ENROLLMENTS

Based on Mid Cycle Enrollments and assuming that there are 293 schools playing football in Division I if all the private are going DII.  Assuming that there would be 49 in 1A,2A,3A,4A, 6A and 48 in 5A.  ***Had a tie in enrollment with Shelbyville Central and Whitehaven.  They could drop them to 5A and there would be 50 in 5A.  Pointless to discuss but those within 10-12 positions of the top or bottom could shift up or down in two years.

Don't get me wrong.  I understand everything you are saying.  I hear all the pros about a reclassification every 2 years.  I would like to hear what the cons are if there are any.

And what I don't understand if this is what a lot of coaches, administrators and athletic directors want then why has it not been submitted?  And if it has then what is the reasoning behind it not coming to fruition?

Just from that list alone, I see a bunch of teams that are going to be playing below their enrollment #s. Also, some rezoning and new schools going to take place that will greatly affect some schools, but they will not be moved because of mid-cycle process. If teams elect to play up, then that is on them.  But, it just seems wrong that teams have to play in classes when they don't have the #s, regardless of reason. Easy fix:  Reclassify every 2 years.  I mentioned somewhere in an earlier topic that a team can really suffer dire consequences if they have to play in a class for 4 years as opposed to 2 years. Damage is minimal in 2 years as opposed to 4 years.  Hard to recover.

I know the super 32 6A schools keep getting brought up. IMO the TSSAA needs to have the smallest 32 to 40 grouped together for playoff purposes. Then divide classes 2 through 6 evenly. That would even the gap between schools that have 100 students having to play schools with around 400. Another thing I wished they would quite trying to even the classes and have a number set for each class. Just my 2 cents worth.

Here is the latest.   Trezevant coming back to 2A football next 2 years.  Memphis East the 2016  4A state champions in football will move down to Class 1A football.

Just read where Eagleville (2A to 1A football)  and McMinn County (6A to 5A (all sports?)  have both requested a move to a lower classification. 

I was told no school could request to move up so why would a school be allowed a request to move down when the mid classification numbers don't dictate a move for them in the first place?

I read the minutes from today’s meeting. They were both denied and will be staying where they are at now.

I have nothing against Eagleville but I really can't see this request being granted. 

They requested this move due to the opening of Rockvale High School and rezoning.
