Question for you Riverside folks. Didn’t the school used to be called Parsons Riverside back in the 70’s-80’s? Did it merge or was a new one built? Or am I just wrong?

As far as the school itself no it has always been riverside but ppl would put the parsons or Decatur county w it just to give people an idea where riverside is. But technically it's just riverside

Riverside is the only high school in Decatur Co. It was formed in 1965 by consolidating Decatur Co. High School in Decaturville, Crowder High School (due to segregation) in Decaturville, and Parsons High School. The 1965 Riverside High School is now the middle school.  (The football stadium is where it has been since 1965.) They built a new high school a couple of miles south in 2000.  A few have talked about building a new stadium, but the old one has such tradition to the local people, a new one has never been seriously on the table. It is special to play on the same field your grandfather played on, even though we have never won a state championship. Our best two teams in school history have been 2010 (9-1) and 2018 (9-1).

Since @38320 hasn't answered...they were beaten by McKenzie, who lost to TCA, who went on to lose to Signal Mtn. in Cookeville. McKenzie had an ariel attack that would be on par with Waverly at least...maybe better. TCA had Jabriel Washington, and Signal had a 4A enrollment. Riverside was solid in 2010, just as this year...but this years team has the potential to go further.

Thanks for the info. Yep, you just can’t replace history. Sometimes it’s not a bad thing. Look forward to the game. I’ll be the one across the way yelling! Lol.

Probably drives the "homers" nuts...I hate to hear it myself, Riverside is just Riverside.
