Announcers on 96.5 ESPN said the Riverside win over Lewis Co. was a surprise. Wasn't a surprise to any of the Riverside faithful. I don't know why we keep being the underdogs.

You wasnt the underdog in our book man. A lot of people havent seen yall play so they just try to go off past seasons. I figured it would be R6 teams in the third round.

No surprise here. Riverside is a scary good team. They’re scary because they are slept on every game. Lewis Co had a great season. Big win on their schedule when they took down Columbia Academy. I hope to see Lewis County get over that hump in the future. Much respect for the head coach there.

Can’t even get ti the hump,

Yep, you called it Vandy. You said early on in the season it would be Riverside and Waverly in the Quarters.

Hats off to the Lewis Co. Panthers. They got behind early and kept it close until the final buzzer. They never gave up, and kept calling time outs late in the fourth to try to get some points. They are a fine program and very hard to beat in high school football - year in and year out. Their facility is as nice as any public 2A school I've been to. They were a lot harder to beat than they were three years ago when we played them at Riverside. Those young men have grown up! Wish the best to the Lewis Co. seniors and am sure they will go far in school and life.

Yes, most people in this end of the state have a lot of respect for Coach Sharp. I've been across the field from him as a fan at three different schools over the past 20 years. He is hard to beat when his team is having a bad day and impossible to beat when they are having a good day. And yes, RS is slept on most every game. We are in the middle of nowhere as far as press goes. We are too far west for Nashville to report on and Jackson only talks about us when we are playing Lexington or one of the Jackson private schools (in the past).

For those saying the region is what it is; Playing the Redboiling Springs and Collinwoods of the classification system for non region games to pad the W/L record doesn’t help come second round of the playoffs does it?

Then hang your pride of the season on a small private school (CA) that has to move up, is a season defining moment!

That gym floor read-ta-go?

LC next year-9-3 with another second round exit!

You realize we schedule Hickman County, right?

Once again another weak opponent. When we do have a good team and coach we make it out of the second round unlike Lewis. For the long run Lewis county has making the playoffs you would think they would have a few golden balls. And a reminder the two teams playing in 3rd round are from region 6.

Superimpressive feat by RS. Most surprising win of the playoffs so far, and especially that you blanked them on their field. Wow. Speechless.

You wouldn't be nearly as surprised if you'd taken some of the opinions of the fans who have watched Riverside all season into consideration. Defense is the Panthers' hallmark, and Lewis County's offensive strengths went right into the teeth of that defense. Eagleville and Lewis were pretty evenly matched, but Eagleville's offense was more diverse...that's why I posted that Eagleville was probably the toughest region five opponent for the Panthers. CA and Lewis both are/were tailor made for Riverside to stop.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
