Oh yes! We practice defense. Every week there is a day dedicated to defense , a day dedicated to offense and then the coaches decide which one needs more work. On Wednesday they work on specific things they need to sharpen up. Of course Thursday is Special Teams. Yes, we do work on defense.

Haha I figured you did. That’s why I said it may not be true. I bet you guys spend more time on offense though getting those reads and fakes down

They don’t pass never have.  From what I’ve been told they don’t practice defense much.  That may or may not be true.  I do know if their offense clicks it’s their defense. They try to limit the offensive possessions of whoever they are playing.

I know they do not pass much. They threw it 15 times in 13 games last season. My point was they need some sort of passing game to keep the defense from loading the box. Especially this years UC team. They could get away with it in the past but they don't have the same studs as in years before. UC will never throw the ball much under Bowling but 6 or 7 a game would help loosen up a defense. That's just my two cents worth which doesn't mean alot.

Yeah there isnt 200 plus pound full backs and a dominating line so I gotta agree 5 pass attempts a game would make a difference..

From what I am hearing from my son, who is on the UC team, our guys are in high spirits even after the huge loss to LC last week. Who knows, maybe they got woke up. We shall see.

I know two years ago a lot of people counted y’all out after y’all had a bad start. I was one of them. Y’all ended up winning it all so ya never know!

You're going to have to wait another week to find out. I heard from a reliable source that they looked like a pee wee team running around the field. Sad.

I have had some of those same thoughts. The good thing is that our guys are not down in the dumps about it. They are having a good week of practice. I know that we should beat MLK  convincingly, but until the final whistle blows it's anybody's game. Just wanting a dominant performance from our guys. Then it's one week at a time.

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
