My question is why did we not work on the running game some? Is it because I had everybody in the Box.I read something that they didn't have a safety, where we just taking what they gave us and trying to get out of the game.

They had seven most of the time in the box and sometimes eight lol. Man on the outside doubled Holden all night so that opened up the rest of them. I would like to see GB come out and play with more fire and quit looking so flat!!!

That pretty awesome he had 2 touchdowns on the first two passes. He does great!

He throws the long ball as well as any HS QB I have seen. He really put some air under the one ball to 23. I didn't think it was ever coming down.

I really didn't understand the thought process there. Stacking the box on a predominately passing team didn't make much sense to me.

As far as defense, I said the same thing about being flat but they did shut them down the first two series and then seem to let up.

I’m gonna say I remember back when I played and you went into a game of basically knowing the out come it’s hard get fired and keep the intensity level up. Plus the fans bring a lot of that out in the boys and nobody was cheering much last night. There was plays that we had a tfl and no one cheered. We have a lot to do with this imho.

GFD always reminds me of Vonore in 87 (only undefeated Greenback team ever ) When we went in at the half up by a score and they were TTTTEEERRRRIIIBBBLLLLEEE!We had a hard time getting into that one UNTIL halftime then that man BILL SATTERFIELD said what he said and it was on!We had alot of games like that that year but we disposed of them quickly. All i want is to see fire, hustle,a desire to whip the man in front of you dont give him the opportunity to think he is remotely as good as you even if he is!Not talking about being cocky just refusing to give way. There was always that sense of gratification when you looked into that guys eyes and you saw that he knew what was coming! There is an attitude you have to have being a lineman. We have some VERY good ones but i would like to see great every Fri night!

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
